1. Principal Message
We are into the last third of the school year and looking forward to a big finish. There are so many success stories already from the year - it was a real treat to walk around the school this week and see students hard a work, starting in on more difficult concepts, and being kind to the people around them. These results are the outcome of a real team effort between students, school staff, ERE Families and the community. Thank You!
There will be several opportunities for learning outdoors and experiential learning on field trips in the final months of the school year. I would like to highlight our Arts Residency with Trickster Theater June 12-16. Trickster might be the most exciting thing to come to ERE. The Trickster artists will work with classes each day bringing a curriculum outcome to life on the stage. The final product will be a 60 minute professional production featuring every student K-5 that will surely impress and entertain. We will be looking for a large number of volunteers that week to assist with costumes, props, and moving equipment. Free tickets for the Trickster Presentation on June 16 (2 pm and 7 pm) will be available in late May.
I hope you are looking forward to spring. If you have any questions, ideas, or accolades to share, please connect with me or the school team.

5. Eye See. . . Eye Learn
- Did you know, if required, kindergarten-aged students can receive a free pair of eyeglasses?
- Eye See. . . Eye Learn is a program that provides kindergarten-aged students with a comprehensive eye exam from an optometrist.
- There is Alberta Health coverage towards your child’s eye exams up to age 19.
- 80% of learning is visual.
- 1 in 4 school-aged children has a vision problem.
- An eye exam detects health problems such as crossed eyes or lazy eye.
- Children with vision problems are often misdiagnosed as having learning or behavioural disabilities.
- The earlier an eye health or visual problem is identified, the more likely it can be corrected.
- Children often don’t know they have a vision problem, as they believe what they are seeing is normal.
