9.1 Sixth Day Enrollment
Currently Urbana School District is at 4,126 for total student enrollment. That number increases to 4,369 when you add preK.
Study Topics
11.1 Hearing Officer Discussion
Susan Nicholas with Robbins Schwartz (District Council) gave an overview of securing and implementing a hearing officer for student discipline matters. A hearing officer is an independent, third party person, not affiliated with the school district, that assists with expulsion hearings. This person would hear all of the evidence and then provide a written decision that would be submitted to the board. The hearing officer does not have the authority to determine if a student will be expelled or for what period. The Board would still make that decision. Most district's of this size use a hearing officer. The Board decided to revisit this conversation at a future meeting.
11.2 Board of Education Equity Policy Review
Administration re-shared the draft Board Equity Policy created in 2021 by the District Equity Task Force. Approval will be requested during the next full policy review and PRESS update.
An Equity Policy grounds the District in our work around equity. The policy includes:
- A Statement of Need
- Vision
- Committment
- Definitions
11.3 Tentative FY24 BOE Agenda Calendar
Dr. Ivory-Tatum shared a tentative FY24 BOE Agenda Calendar for the Board of Education to discuss.

12.1 Administrative Personnel Items APPROVED
The Board approved the following re-assignments for the 2023-24 school year:
- Christina Cail-Lewandowski, Director of Assessment and Accountability
- Tonya Dieken, Director of Curriculum and Instruction
12.3 Promise Health Care/USD116 - SBHC Memorandum of Understanding APPROVED
The Board approved renewing the School Based Health Center - Memorandum of
Understanding between Urbana School District 116 and Promise Health Care.
