Journey back to the fateful day of the Kennedy assassination and experience the emotion of that historical event through actual photographs and firsthand accounts. More than 60 photographs from the Museum's collections provide a backdrop to a dramatic voice-over by our Curator. Learn about a key moment in Texas and American history from the people who witnessed the events of November 22, 1963.

Storybook PAL: Grandma's Gift (RECORDING)

All curriculum is available in English and Spanish.
Each month we feature a different book with a video reading by Ms. Esme the Hat Lady, in both English and Spanish, along with a featured art form video. December is Grandma’s Gift by Eric Velasquez, which takes place over Christmas break where a grandma takes her grandson to a museum for a special project. There they discover they are connected to a famous artwork through their culture and history, leading to a special Christmas gift. Our featured art form with this book will teach students a Latin dance.

Students will learn about the Museum’s live animal collection up close while also learning about important science concepts such as adaptations, ecosystems, food chains, animal classifications, and much more. Animals featured include a prairie dog, bearded dragon, snakes, rabbits, and more.

Why did people move to Texas from other countries? What challenges and opportunities did they face? A Museum Educator will discuss the four primary waves of immigration to the United States through Texas from 1845-1924, the history behind the movement of people to Texas then and now, interesting stories from immigrants, and show artifacts that people brought with them on the journey. Many of the stories of immigration to Texas can also be compared to the characteristics of immigration to the United States.

REGISTRATIONS
- Anyone from around the world can participate in C2TX programs, including those from public, private, charter, and home schools. (NOTE: A student minimum may apply in some cases.)
- ALL programs are interactive unless designated as "non-interactive" or "recording" in the title. (NOTE: Interactive requires camera and microphone.)
- Cancellations must be made through the website at least 48 hours in advance.
EQUIPMENT
- Teachers must be able to connect using Zoom.
- All interactive classes must have a working camera and microphone so that the presenter can see/hear students.
- Teachers should test Zoom at https://zoom.us/test prior to their program date to make sure everything is working correctly.
