Wheaton Elementary Update

October 2020

Dear Families,

We are nearing the end of first quarter and things are going great in the elementary.

Parent Teacher Conferences- Don't forget, Parent Teacher Conferences are coming up! Be sure to sign up for a time with your child's teacher. Conferences are set to be held the week of October 19th. We will be doing all conferences virtually this year due to Covid. Thank you for being flexible with us during this time as we try something new with conferences. It is important that we get to speak with you about all the great things that are going on with your child at school.

Halloween Parties- This will look different this year due to Covid-19. Your child's teacher will be collecting money to purchase items for the Halloween Party. We will not be taking any items sent in by students. Your child may bring their school-appropriate costume to school and will be able to change into their costume before the party. Unfortunately, we will not be having a Halloween Parade this year.

September Students of the Month!

Students are chosen for student of the month by teachers and paras in the building! I am so proud of these students for their positive behavior and hard work in the classroom. We will celebrate them next week with pizza for lunch!

Seesaw

We almost have 100% of our elementary connected to Seesaw!!! Thank you for doing this!! We love communicating with you and for you to be involved. The link is below if you still need to connect! This will be available the rest of the year or you may contact your child's teacher if needed.

Drop Off & Pickup

If your child arrives at school after 8:15 you will need to come in and sign them in at the office.

Please be sure you are not dropping your child off before 7:45 in the morning, as we do not have anyone on duty until that time.

When dropping off and picking up your student, please be sure to stay in your vehicle. Have your child exit and enter the vehicle on the passenger side.

School Nurse Algorithm

This is the algorithm that our school nurses will be following concerning Covid-19. If your child is sick, please keep them at home and let the office know. We appreciate everyone's efforts in helping keep our school healthy.

Free Meals

The USDA has extended the SFSP free-meal program into this year. What does this mean? ALL Wheaton students, including virtual students, can eat breakfast and lunch for free. This program will begin Monday, September 14, 2020 and will continue through December or until funds run out. We will keep you updated with information as we are notified. All extra items, extra milk will still require payment. Please keep in mind this does not eliminate any unpaid balances. Please encourage your student(s) to take advantage of a free breakfast and lunch!
