A Note from the Superintendent
As we move into the summer you'll notice lots of projects happening across the district. While June and July see a much needed break for our students and teaching staff, they are very busy months for our maintenance teams, technology department, and administration staff. Keep an eye on our progress through the Savannah R3 website.
I hope you all find time to enjoy the break and make lasting memories with your children. Enjoy them while they are young; the days are long but the years go by fast.

New Student Information System
Tyler SIS is going away and the District was forced to move to a new student information system. We've done a soft launch through summer school but we will officially roll out Teacher Ease in August.
What does this mean for parents and families?
You'll have a new way to log in for online registration, checking lunch balances and paying online fees. But don't panic. There will be more information emailed to you as we move closer to the new school year. In fact, you will be receiving a welcome email from Teacher Ease in the coming weeks that includes your login information. Don't loose it, you'll need it for online registration.
Windows, Drainage Work, Tuckpointing, & More!
If you've driven past one of our school campuses lately you've likely seen working being done there. Thanks to the levy passed by voters in 2022, several big maintenance projects have been completed!
A few of the completed projects include:
- tuckpointing and masonry work at Helena Elementary & Minnie Cline Elementary
- Brand new windows at Helena, John Glenn, Amazonia, and Savannah High School (more to come)
- dirt and foundation work being done at Minnie Cline Elementary to remedy current drainage issues
- new yellow gas pipe lines above the Savannah High School building
- All new HVAC at Amazonia Elementary
See the district website for a full list and to follow our progress. https://www.savannahr3.com/o/savannah-r3/page/renovations
New Classroom Technology!
Current classroom Smart Boards and interactive projectors are being replaced this summer. Before the new interactive TVs can be hung, our technology crew (and summer interns) are working hard to take down the old screens and paint classroom walls. We can't wait to see how teachers and students utilize this new technology in August.
Under the Sea
The Savannah High School murals class students recently painted a Sea Mural at Minnie Cline Elementary. Kayla Hinton, art teacher, commented, "It was so amazing for the Murals class to give back to the school & community in this way. The curious children at the school were so kind to the painters- sharing snacks on their birthdays." This is the largest mural the class has completed. The students worked hard to complete the task, some putting in 10 to 12 hours. Long ago Minnie Cline began assigning each of it's grade levels a color. The mural was painted with this in mind and the sea creatures were painted accordingly. See the District Facebook page for more pictures!
Minnie Cline Playground
The new playground at Minnie Cline is starting to take shape. Huge thanks to the MC PTO, the Savannah Foundation, multiple Parent Donations, and donations from Bloom After School for making this happen. Watch your email for information about a ribbon cutting once the construction is complete.
