GSST SENIOR ACKNOWLEDGEMENT

Seniors were given the opportunity to submit information. The seniors we recognize opted for acknowledgement. We at GSST are proud of all individuals of Class 2022.

Biological Science

Esther has been accepted to both Virginia Tech and Virginia Commonwealth University. Esther will be attending Virginia Tech and was awarded scholarships to VCU.

Woodside High School

Biological Science

Kelvin was accepted to The College of William & Mary, Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, and University of South Carolina. Kelvin will attend the University of Virginia and has been awarded, by UVA, The University Achievement Award Scholarship.

Engineering

Antoun has been accepted to 12 universities including Yale, Cornell, and University of Virginia. Antoun will be attending Princeton University and was awarded several scholarships including being offered full tuition at The College of William and Mary.

Marianne was accepted to University of Virginia, University of Richmond, The College of William & Mary, Washington & Lee, Virginia Tech, The Catholic University of America, and George Mason University. Marianne will be attending University of Richmond in the fall.

Spencer was accepted to Virginia Tech, George Mason University, and William & Mary. Spencer will be attending The College of William & Mary.

Poquoson High School

Bradley has been accepted and will be attending Virginia Commonwealth University in the fall. Bradley was awarded scholarships.

Cassidy has been accepted to The United States Air Force Academy, University of Miami, University of Virginia, and Virginia Tech. Cassidy will be attending The United States Air Force Academy and was awarded the Emerging Leader Scholarship.

Engineering

Nathan was accepted to James Madison University, Old Dominion University, and George Mason University. He will be attending James Madison University in the fall.

Hampton High School

Computational Science

Justin has been accepted to Virginia Tech, Old Dominion University, Christopher Newport University, George Mason University, and Hawaii Pacific University. Justin will be attending Virginia Tech and has been awarded the Merit Scholarship to Virginia Tech.

Poquoson High School

Engineering

Cooper was accepted to Virginia Tech, James Madison University, The College of William & Mary, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Cooper will attend Virginia Tech in the fall and was awarded the Hampton Roads Educators Credit Union scholarship. Cooper has thoroughly enjoyed his mentorship with Dr. Schniepp at William & Mary where they have been studying the performance of diatoms in 3D Concrete Printing.

Warwick High School

Engineering

Amanda was accepted to 8 Universities including Virginia Tech, University of Richmond, and University of Virginia. Amanda will be attending The College of William & Mary and has been awarded the William and Mary Scholar. While at GSST, she completed an independent research project focusing on the importance of diversity in the high school curriculum. In her spare time, she is a talented artist.

Denbigh High School

Computational Science

Abdalla was accepted to 89 Universities and/or academies including Virginia Tech, University of Richmond, and Vanderbilt University. Abdullah will be attending the U.S. Air Force Academy and was awarded many scholarships to the schools he applied. On top of earning a Private Pilot’s License, he has participated in many committees and competitions earning him numerous awards including the Presidential Academic Award. He spends a lot of his time volunteering and has served as Newport News Mayor's Youth Commissioner, Young Adult Police Commissioner, and a Library board of Trustee youth member. He is very active in school as he is a part of multiple sports teams, scholastic teams, and honor societies. Abdalla will study Computer Science with minors in Space Warfighting and Arabic.

Ellen has been accepted to Virginia Tech, Radford University, and Liberty University. Ellen will be attending Virginia Tech and has been awarded the Virginia Tech Scholarship and the Yorktown’s Women’s Club Scholarship.

Julia has been accepted to R-MC, Virginia Tech, George Mason University, Christopher Newport University (honors), James Madison University (honors), and the College of William & Mary. Julia will attend Virginia Tech and was awarded scholarships from multiple schools. Julia is 12th in her class with a 4.4 GPA.

Braden has been accepted to University of Virginia, Virginia Tech, William & Mary, University of Maryland, George Mason University, and Virginia Commonwealth University. Braden will be attending University of Virginia and was awarded multiple scholarships including The Peninsula Community Foundation of Virginia Scholarship and The Williamsburg Community Foundation.

Niya has been accepted to Virginia Tech, Virginia Commonwealth University, Long Island University, and Christopher Newport University. Niya will be attending Virginia Tech and has been awarded the Science National Honor Society Scholarship as well as the Beyond Boundaries Scholarship

Grafton High School

Lauren has been accepted to 14 colleges including Virginia Tech, North Carolina State, and Clemson University. Lauren will be attending Wake Forest University in the fall.

Andrew was accepted to The United States Merchant Marine Academy, Virginia Tech, Old Dominion University, Virginia Commonwealth University, and Auburn University. Andrew will be attending The United States Merchant Marine Academy in the fall. He was also awarded the Army ROTC Scholarship.

Jamestown High School

Biological Science

Cannon has been accepted to ten universities, among them being: James Madison University, Virginia Tech, and Michigan State University. Cannon will be attending Miami University in the fall and has been awarded and accepted the Redhawk Excellence Scholarship and the Prodesse Scholars Program. Cannon is involved in many extracurricular activities such as various honor societies, volunteer work, and being captain of the XC and track team - all while maintaining a job.

Leo has been accepted to Virginia Tech, University of Virginia, George Mason University and University of Maryland. Leo will attend Virginia Tech and was awarded scholarships to some of the above universities.

Eleanor has been accepted to Washington & Lee University, The College of William & Mary, University of North Carolina Wilmington, and James Madison University. Eleanor will be attending Washington & Lee University and was awarded the VA Council on Women STEAM-H Essay Contest Scholarship.

Espen has been accepted to George Mason University, James Madison University, and Virginia Tech. He will be attending Virginia Tech in the fall.

Olivia was accepted to 17 Universities including University of Virginia, University of Pittsburg, and University of Richmond. Olivia will be attending Rice University and was awarded scholarships to multiple schools.

Computational Science

Eric has been accepted to Virginia Commonwealth University, Virginia Tech, George Mason University, and The College of William & Mary. Eric will be attending Virginia Commonwealth University and has been awarded both the Provost Scholarship and a Scholarship to GMU. Eric has made videos for his home school to promote school pride and has gained a following of 800K followers on TikTok to where he now works with promoting brands and companies.

Engineering

Daniel has been accepted to The California Institute of Technology, The Georgia Institute of Technology, and University of Virginia. Daniel will attend The California Institute of Technology. Daniel was awarded several scholarships including The York County Outstanding Youth Award Scholarship.

Computational Science

Eva has been accepted to and will attend University of Virginia. Eva has been awarded and accepted The Quest Bridge National College Match Scholarship.
