Dear Yowell Families,

The building is full of kids and the scuffed up floors are proof of it! We are getting into a rhythm of flow both in and out of the building. I want to thank each of you for your patience and kindness each day. Tomorrow our students will be tasked with walking themselves to class. There are plenty of staff members along the hallways who can help out.

Curbside dismissal has been getting faster and faster every day. Thank you for all your patience and understanding as we continue to fine tune our procedures. Dismissal changes should be made in the form of a note or a phone call to the office by 2:30pm each day. Just a reminder, students are not able to be picked up for early dismissal in the office after 3pm each school day. If you need your child for an appointment please pick them up prior to 3pm.

We are gearing up for the Yowell musical, The Jungle Book! Sign-ups begin now and will be open until August 23rd. You must be in 3rd grade or older to participate. Each student who wishes to participate must sign up through the form linked below. Fliers will be sent home in Tuesday folders this week with more information.

Attention Yowell Elementary Students and Parents!

We are pleased to announce Yowell Elementary School’s second annual musicall! This

year, we will be performing Disney’s The Jungle Book Kids. It is a wonderful story with

amazing costumes and opportunities for our students to shine!

● Students must be in 3rd grade or older to participate.

● Auditions will be held before school August 28th and 30th for the lead roles.

Information about auditions will be sent out to those interested. If a student would like to

be a part of the Jungle Chorus, they can sign up without an audition. Mrs. Korona will

also be starting an art club for 4th and 5th grade students interested in painting the sets

for the production. This art club will also help backstage during the play. Anyone

interested in the art club must see Mrs. Korona for more information.

● Rehearsals will be held from 7:30am - 8:30am on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Students will need to have their own transportation as buses will not be available at that

time. We will also have after-school rehearsals closer to show time.

● The performances will be Friday, February 2nd at 6pm, Saturday, February 3rd at 2pm,

and Saturday, February 3rd at 6pm. Students will be expected to be at all of these

performances. This year, we will be performing at the Eastern View High School

auditorium!

● Parent volunteers will be needed to help with costumes, make-up, and other “behind the

scenes” duties.

● Students will be asked to pay a participation fee of $20. These funds will be used for the

cost of costumes and sets.

The deadline to sign up for the musical is 8/23!

• Registration is open for our fall Girls on the Run season.
• The first session of the 10 week season will be the week of September 4th.
• Practices will be Tuesday/Thursday from 4-5:30 pm.

• There are a limited number of spaces for Girls on the Run at Yowell.
• Once registration closes girls will be selected via a lottery.
• Our very own Mrs. Yost is our new GOTR coach!

In an effort to assist schools and parents with current information about bus changes, transportation has added a new item on their website called: Transportation - Morning Update. The direct link can be found here.

We will be posting departure times for buses each day to assist parents with receiving their child from the bus stop. Please check this document each afternoon.

We are happy to have a School Resource Officer (SRO) this year at Yowell. You can contact him with any concerns you have with school safety or anything that would be related to criminal activity.
