Brunswick School Department Hires New Director of Finance
The Brunswick School Department (BSD) has named Lesley Wysocki as its new Director of Finance.
Wysocki is currently the Director of Finance and Operations and formerly the Business Manager at Westbrook Public Schools in Westbrook, CT, a role she’s held since 2010. Wysocki began her career in education as a math and science teacher in Massachusetts but transitioned to central office administration in 2004 when moving to Connecticut.
Wysocki was selected from a list of seven candidates by two search committees. The search committees totaled fourteen individuals, including Brunswick School Department administration, school board members, BEA Union President, and Town of Brunswick staff.
“This was a thorough and thoughtful process,” said Brunswick Superintendent Phillip Potenziano. “We had several strong candidates, but Lesley rose to the top and impressed the search committees with her significant finance experience.”
Wysocki earned a Bachelor of Science from Lesley College, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, with Dual Certification in Elementary and Middle School and a minor in Music, an M.Ed. from Boston University, and a Sixth Year Diploma; Education Leadership from Southern Connecticut State University, New Haven, Connecticut.
The Brunswick School Board approved the nomination of Wysocki at its meeting on June 15. She begins her new role on August 1, replacing Kelly Wentworth, who is leaving after six years.
Wysocki stated, “I am so thrilled that the School Board and the Superintendent have put their faith in me to continue transparency in financial matters and to advocate for and assure students and staff have the resources they need for a safe and healthy learning environment, and to remain fiscally responsible to the community at large. I look forward to building trusting relationships with everyone in Brunswick.”
