Principal Principles
It's Homecoming Week
Homecoming is such an exciting week. There is float building, the parade, the presentation of the homecoming court, and the announcement of the King and Queen. There is the game, the band performance following the game, and the dance on Saturday. All of these are traditions at DHS. Each and every one of these brings joy, fun, and excitement. These are times to be cherished and remembered.
I just want to clarify that 'Junior-Senior wars are NOT a part of the DHS homecoming tradition. These acts are not endorsed in any way by the DHS administration or the Demopolis City Schools system. Unfortunately, in some instances, the Demopolis Police Department has been forced to get involved in previous years, and there is just no place for some of the behaviors. I would like to ask parents and guardians to discourage your child's participation in these activities.
Everyone at DHS wants homecoming to be a fun and memorable experience for all our students. I appreciate your help in this matter.

Dress Code
The assistant principals have met with all students to discuss the dress code. Students and parents should be familiar with the dress code, which is contained in the DCS code of conduct. Of particular note: students should not wear athletic attire (sweatpants, wind suits, etc., with the exception of game days), crop tops, house shoes, or slides. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Attendance Matters
Did you Know?
September is Attendance Awareness Month, designated by the Attendance Awareness Campaign. Know the difference in truancy and chronic absenteeism. Chronic absenteeism is defined as missing two or more days per month or more than 18 days in an academic year. Students who are chronically absent are more likely to drop out. Every day, Every class period matters.
