The EMS Instructional Technology Team is excited to work with students, teachers, and administrators this year to support and enhance the great things going on in our district this year!
Are our students using using images online correctly? (Are we?)
@CultofPedagogy recently published a post about teaching students to use images legally online.
"As our students create more and more digital products - blog posts, videos, podcasts, e-books—they should be using images to enhance them. Images grab an audience’s attention, they can illustrate key concepts, set a certain tone, and present a more complete understanding of the ideas you’re putting out there.
And the internet is absolutely teeming with images students can grab and use in a matter of seconds. But in most cases, they SHOULD NOT GRAB. Despite the fact that these images are easy to get, using them may be illegal."
Read the rest of the post here for specific ways we can help our students use images legally. (Good info for teachers, too!)
BrightBytes Survey Next Week!
Campus Technology Integrators (CTIs) will be sharing information next week about an important BrightBytes survey. Thank you, in advance, for your participation. Your responses will help shape the future of technology integration in our district!

Go Incognito in the Chrome Browser
When you open an Incognito window, you are opening a browser that is not logged into anything, and it doesn't save your history or cookies. It's like a blank canvas for your browser.
There are lots of reasons you might want to browse in an incognito window. One of our favorite bloggers, Kasey Bell of Shake Up Learning, shared her top 8 reasons here.
Use Incognito Browsing when working with EMS Student Office 365 Accounts
In order to share documents with and communicate with your students in Office 365 , teachers must log in to Office 365 with their student tenant email address and password. If you log into your student account while already logged into you teacher account, Office 365 gets confused and doesn't know who you are. Open a new Incognito window whenever you want to log into your student account, and all will work flawlessly.
Incognito Browsing is NOT really Private!
Remember, that anything you do on a computer can be tracked. Your Internet Service Provider (and our Technology Department) can still track any activity. Browse wisely!
We want to help you successfully infuse technology into your classroom. We would love to train you on how to create tech infused lessons, co-teach the lessons, or even share our favorite tech tools with you!
