Greetings Leaders: I want to move our youth group into a move focused type of growth this month. For awhile now we've been talking about this Shalom Project for the month of March and now it's here. So again, this whole idea of Shalom comes out of scripture where God mandated his people to seek the welfare of the city as well as using the Gospel and the Church to push back what is dark in this world. For us at CBC, I want to make sure that we always are applying our theology in relevant and practical avenues and so this is a start.
For the month of March, i want to focus in on the organization called Elijah Rising. Our church have previously done stuff with them but i want us as a youth group to really rally behind it. So in short, i'd like to see 3 things happen with our youth group
1. Awareness: I want our students to be attentive to the world around them, especially in their own city. I want them to see and feel the needs of a world ravaged by sin and let it lead to the next step.
2. Brokenness: As the people of God, i want us to cry out to God to move in this city. For him to restrain the hand of evil and to redeem both physically and spiritually those caught up in this industry. I want our students to be serious about asking God to move and show it be fasting and praying and moving their hearts towards action.
3. Action: I want us to finally do something with it. So whether this is a combination of fasting, having someone come in and talk to us about it, raising awareness in our schools, adopting, etc. Let us be doers of the word and not just hearers.
