CRES Parent Update 11-30-23

Dear Cub Families,

Tomorrow is December! The holidays are coming upon us quickly! We have a number of school events happening in December, so we will do our best to keep you up to date! We will include all the events in this weekly email, and you can also check out our school web page. This year Rockingham County Public Schools (RCPS) implemented a new program for parent communication. The weekly parent emails sent to you weekly are from that program. This new program also is our new platform for school web pages. The new program links Facebook pages, web pages, etc. so parent information can be more connected. While it is still under construction :) the Cub Run web page does have great information for parents-especially those who do not have Facebook. Our new web page is linked to our parent google calendar and lists all upcoming events, it lists announcements and news updates, and it includes posts and pictures of some things happening at school. Don't forget tomorrow, Friday, December 1 is Cubs for a Cure Hat Day! Students who wish to wear a hat in school may bring a $1.00 that will go to the Cubs for a Cure team!

Earlier this year at a PTA meeting Ms. Martz shared how we would like to host 3-4 informational parent meetings a year. We are calling them Cub Connections! When talking with parents the general consensus was that an additional in-person meeting for parents was sometimes difficult because of child care, family schedules, etc., and we completely understand that. Someone suggested an online meeting instead. This would allow parents to still attend and hear the information. So, we are going to try online Cub Connections information parent meetings this first semester, and we will get parent input to decide how to continue in the future.

So, please join us for a Cub Connections-Parent Information Meeting on December 7th at 7:00 p.m. At our December meeting, we will discuss the topics of school attendance, our parent volunteer program, PAW Patrol, and we will also talk a little about keeping schools safe, too. We will send reminders about the December meeting as we get closer to it, and we will send the link to join the meeting on the day of the meeting. We hope you can join us online!

Hi PTA Families!

We are excited for the Holiday Craft Bazaar at Cub Run on Friday, December 8. We will have a pizza dinner, crafts, games, cake walk and more! We hope to see you there!

RSVPs were sent home earlier in the week. You can either return those with your student or pay online here by December 5. $8 for students and $6 for students.

You could help make our event even more successful by considering donating items. We have a signup for food items, crafts or monetary donations to help offset the cost of the event. If you wanted to donate money, you could contribute by sending a check to the school made out to Cub Run PTA or on PayPal here. Thanks for your ongoing support!

4th and 5th grade is selling CubCard discount cards to help fund their end of the year field trips. They are $15 each. Please let either Elizabeth Harding or Kori Tyree know if you wish to purchase one. The card front and back pictures are attached. Thank you!

As you are aware, CRES is on a six day rotation for our specials classes. Each week we will share the upcoming days of the rotation with parents. Here are the rotations for the next two weeks:

Friday, December 15-SCA Spirit Day: Festive Sweater/Shirt Day-Wear anything that shows your holiday spirit!

Monday, December 18-SCA Spirit Day: Winter Character Day-Wear something that shows any winter character (can be holiday related, a snowman, etc.)

Tuesday, December 19-SCA Spirit Day: Polar Express Day-Wear comfy, appropriate :) pajamas!
