President's Message
WOW! No one would have ever imagined that 2020 would look anything like it does now and what it might continue to look like.
The first week of March, I made a major decision to cancel our 2020 All-State Basketball Games. It wasn’t a popular decision, but I felt that it needed to be made. Soon after, EVERYTHING was being cancelled or shut down; and here we are the at beginning of September. Up until a few weeks ago, none of us were sure we were even going to have a chance to compete in the 2020-21 season. Our new four- season model from CHSAA is almost halfway through Season A. Softball and cross country (along with boys’ golf and tennis) are the four sports laying down the path for the rest of us to follow.
I know that this has been and will continue to be some incredibly stressful and trying times for all of us! Just imagine what it has been like for our athletes. Athletes thrive on the social aspect of sports and being with their teammates; and for now, they have no teammates. Their sense of belonging and, for some, their identity is gone. For some right now, their purpose and motivation to be a good student is also gone. RIGHT NOW, we need to help our athletes navigate these uncertain times with Patience, Positivity,, Compassion, and Strength. Let’s help them understand that, yes, this is a difficult time; however, we know that the Season A sports are forging the paths for Seasons B, C, and D. We can’t promise anything but must keep the hope alive that we ALL will get a chance to play!
We are planning on having our All-State Softball Games. Unfortunately, there will be no banquet; we will just host the games. Selection will be online. To be able to a part of the selection meeting for your classification, your membership must be current. You can renew your membership or become a new member by going to our website: www.colocgs.org. You will then be sent information via email regarding how the voting process will take place.
CCGS has always had the best interest of the girls and women in sports here in Colorado, and that will not change. When we get the opportunity to play our All-State Games, we will do it with the health and safety of our athletes, coaches, parents, and fans as our #1 priority. We will follow ALL of the health and safety protocols given to us by the State of Colorado, CHSAA, and the county where we will be playing the games.
Stay strong, stay safe, and stay healthy!

IMPORTANT DATES & VOTING INFORMATION…2020
Hello Softball Coaches!
I hope that this letter finds you enjoying the wonderful sport of softball as you are in the midst of your season.
As most of you know, the all state softball games started with CCGS in 1987 and have been a great way to recognize female athletics across the state. Additionally, the games have carried female athlete recognition across the country. However, these games do not happen without the help of all of you. For this I cannot thank you enough.

All-State Softball Games:
Date: October 18, 2020
Location: Games at Lutz Complex/Fields (~I-70/Kipling in Arvada)
Time: 4A … 8:00 - 12:00 (check-in, team time, pictures, intro, 10:30 game)

3A … 10:00 - 2:00 (check-in, team time, pictures, intro, 12:30 game)
Ballot and voting: The only requirement is that the athlete is a SENIOR.
The number one slot is an automatic entry to the games. (so that we support our philosophy of having all-state representation)
The ballot consists of 3 non-pitcher slots. Players in slots 2 – 13 will be voted on during the selection meeting on Oct 11 – their ballot position has no impact on the decision – it will strictly be done by votes
Players not selected for the game will be used as alternates only if needed … DO NOT tell the athlete that they have made the team – feel free to express that they have been NOMINATED if you choose.
If you have a player who is placed on the ballot for selection, you will need to pass along information to her on Sunday Oct 11 if she is selected. Therefore, you or a representative should be at the meeting.
NEW-NEW-NEW: We will be following CHSAA COVID guidelines, so the teams will be maxed @ 12 players and 2 coaches. We will NOT have a banquet.
I cannot express the gratitude that I have for you. Not only with the help that you give me each year in making the games a success, but, most importantly, for all the work that you do for your softball players. The impact is endless (it makes up for the pay ☺).
Please join us for the selection meeting so you can talk up your player & get them into the games.
I will see you virtually on Sunday Oct 11, 2020 starting @ 9 am.
I wish you the best as you finish up your season.
Respectfully,
Khara West Brittney Gutierrez
