Greetings Tuscarora Family,

Welcome back, Huskies! I am Principal, Pamela Croft, and I am thrilled to welcome you all to the 2023-2024 school year. This is my 38th year in education and I am proud to begin year 15 as principal of this wonderful school.

We hope you took time to rest and enjoy your summer with friends and family.

The Tuscarora team has been working diligently over the summer months to prepare for opening of school. Our goal is to make this the best school year yet!

As you plan for your return to school, please note that teachers will be informing families and students of any specific school supplies or materials during the Student Orientation, Back-to-School Night, or during the first days of school. A schedule of these events is included in this newsletter.

This August newsletter is packed full of important information to help you experience success early in the school year. Please read on and get connected with the Tuscarora High School community. We look forward to meet your newest Huskies and seeing all our returning Huskies at the various Fall events.

Welcome back, Huskies! The Tuscarora team is excited to invite Tuscarora students to our Student Orientation, grades 9-12, on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023 from 9:30 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. Students, this is a great opportunity for you to tour the building, follow your new schedules, and to meet your teachers.

The Student Orientation will begin promptly at 9:30 a.m. in the school's auditorium. We hope to see you there.

Tuscarora High School is pleased to welcome parents, guardians, and families to attend the Back-to-School Night event on Tuesday, August 22nd, 2023 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. This is a great opportunity for parents/guardians to follow their student's schedule and meet their teachers.

The format for the evening is that of an Open House. Parents/guardians are invited to come to the school anytime between 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., pick up a copy of their student's schedule, and meet their student's teachers. Student volunteers and Tuscarora staff will be available to support families and answer any questions.

Attention Students: The Department of Digital Innovation (DDI) will be distributing new Chromebooks to all 9th grade students on August 21st, 9:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. In order to receive a new device and charger, students must bring in their current device and charge to exchange. Replacements will be made for only the materials they return. In other words, students will only receive a new charger if they return their existing charger.

Hello Husky Families!!! Hope you had a fun and relaxing summer! The PTSO is quite excited to have our students and staff back in the building this Fall!

Why join the PTSO? To help support our staff and students, of course! Your membership dues mean so much! Each Spring, our PTSO offers scholarships to 5 graduating Seniors who exemplify the canons of RISE! We would love to bring back our PTSO Staff Grants with your help as well! We also enjoy spoiling our staff as often as possible with Staff Appreciation Events.

Membership is our main fundraiser each year. Your support and generosity are greatly appreciated!

Tuscarora Husky Fans, let's hear you HOWL!

Get ready, Tuscarora fans, to cheer on the Tuscarora Huskies! Parents, students, families, and fans, please join us on Friday, August 25th, 2023 at 4:00 p.m. for the Tuscarora Tailgate. There will be food, school spirit, and lots of fun and energy as we connect as a Tuscarora Community. The tailgate will take place on Fortune Field, Tuscarora High School's football field.

This event precedes the Tuscarora vs. Heritage football game that begins at 6:00 p.m. A ticket to the game ($7 per ticket) is required to participate in the tailgate. Tickets will be available on Ticket Spicket.

Our SY24 Sports Seasons are here!. Here are dates you need to know.

All physicals for SY 24 must be dated after May 1, 2023 and be on the VHSL Physical Form – VHSL Physical Form

Please complete all four pages thoroughly. Any Physical missing signatures or information will be returned.

Registration will not open for SY Athletics Seasons until July 1. DO NOT register for SY 24 Sports before this time. Students will need to take the Sudden Cardiac course through NFHS (https://nfhslearn.com/courses/sudden-cardiac-arrest). Course is 15 min. Please create an account, take course, download or save a picture of certificate, you will need it for registration.

Returning Users: go to the website listed, sign in to your account, click ‘Register’ for returning students and ‘Add a New Student’ for new athletes in the family. Update your info and click Pay Later on the last page (there is no fee).

New Users: Please create an account, verify it, and follow the steps from above.

The School Counseling Office has several important announcements.

On Monday, August 14th, 2023, students will be able to view their 2023-2024 class schedule through StudentVUE. The School Counselors will be available on Tuesday, August 15th, 2023 to support students seeking schedule changes. The schedule for virtual schedules changes are as follows:

• 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.: 9th and 12th grade students
• 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m.: 10th and 11th grade students

Please sign up with your school counselor through their Bookings site. We will send out the links to "Bookings" via Naviance in the next week.

Congratulations to Anastasia Stoltz and Nabneet Kaur their final project for Geospatial Science won 1st place at the ESRI Map Competition. Their project was one of three projects that LCPS selected to be submitted to the ESRI Map Competition.
