Happy Sunday, Lions!
I have some bittersweet and exciting news to share with everyone. Mr. Graham, our middle/high school administrator has made the decision to officially retire. After his initial retirement from the military, Mr. Graham joined Riverwalk Academy back in 2017, and then in 2018 we announced that he would become our middle/high school administrator. Mr. Graham's impact was immediate and is still being felt today. However, he's made the decision to officially retire. His final day will be Thursday, September 30th. We do wish him the best of luck and without a doubt, he'll be missed. Please take a moment to send him a "best wishes" email by clicking here.
With this bittersweet news comes some exciting news. It was announced on Friday that Dr. Dempsey, our director of special services, will move into this Middle/High School Principal Role. In just two months, Dr. Dempsey and her team have done an incredible job improving our programming for students with disabilities. Prior to joining Riverwalk Academy, Dr. Dempsey previously taught and worked in a leadership capacity at York Middle. It's this experience, along with her enthusiasm for Riverwalk Academy, that makes her inherently qualified to serves as our Middle/High School Principal. She spent some time on Friday meeting with our middle/high school team to prepare for her transition.
In addition to Dr. Dempsey, we're looking to add some additional support to our middle/high school and I'm looking forward to making this announcement in the upcoming week.
Pride, I hope you all have a wonderful week and if you need anything, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of us:
- Elementary Principal - Ms. McCray
- Middle/High Principal - Dr. Dempsey
In Strength and Blessings,
~Dr. Compton

We've received a few questions about our dashboard, so I wanted to provide an explanation for everyone. Click here for an explanation of our COVID data.
School Lunches
Riverwalk Academy is a "bring your own lunch" school where students are encouraged to bring their own lunches. We do offer a fee-based lunch program that is not income-contingent. Our fee-based lunch program is provided by Golden Corral. For more information about this option, please click here.
The Riverwalk Academy Mobile App
Hopefully by now, you've had a chance to check out our new website. If you haven't noticed already, there's the main page, but there's also a dedicated page to our elementary school, middle school, and high school. While each page looks similar, each page's content is different and tailored to the different audiences.
Our new app has now released on the App Store and soon to release on Google Play. Once downloaded, there are two thing's you'll want to do:
- enable notifications
- subscribe to your school (school wide, and elementary or middle or high school)
Below is a short video that demonstrates how to do this.

Elementary Guidance with Mrs. Carr
This week I continue my lessons on Rule #1 and Creating a Positive Vision. Our awesome Art teacher, Mrs. Andrychowski and I are working together to make special displays for all the students’ Rule #1 worksheet.
We continue to remind the students to start and end their days with a positive vision. In the morning, “it will be a great day”, in the afternoon, “it will be a great evening.”
A good way to remind students how to stay positive is to make sure they understand gratitude. This is a great resource for teaching gratitude to children:
