How To Get Started?
Students/Staff: Access Overdrive through Launchpad for instant access.
or
Students:
Download App/Access Overdrive on Library Home page
Login with NEISD username and password, your username will need @stu.neisd.net. The first time, you will need to add your library (search by campus name and click on North East ISD library - you may also add San Antonio Public Library if you have a library card).
Once you are logged in, you can search by subjects and genres, access special collections, and even search by levels. NEISD students can check out 5 books at a time, and specify their lending period at 7, 14, or 21 days. And best of all - NO OVERDUES or LOST books. Plus it's all FREE!
Teachers:
Download App/Access Overdrive on Library Home page
Teachers will login with their ADFS credentials.
NEISD Staff & Students do not need to sign up for an account - you already have a shared district account created for you with NEISD. When initially setting up your app, you will simply swipe "I am under 13 years of age" and sign in with your NEISD Active Directory credentials. (Adults may want to sign up for an account if you will be syncing your books across multiple devices.)
What's the Best Way to Use Overdrive?
Overdrive is great for personal reading and classroom instruction. Teachers can check out a book and project it on the SMART board for class instruction. Books with embedded audio are available for younger students, and include both fiction and nonfiction titles.
Titles are purchased for 1:1use, rather than simultaneous use. This means that for multiple students to read the same book, the library must have purchased multiple copies of the book. You can check how many copies are available by clicking on more , which will tell you how many copies of the book are owned by the library and how many are available.
Students are encouraged to use Overdrive READ & Overdrive LISTEN to access books right within the browser. Books can also be downloaded to your device for continuous use without access to internet.
Teach your students and teachers how to:
- use the collections
- narrow their search by interest levels, reading levels, audio vs. ebook
- place items on a wish list
- return a book or renew a book
- (advanced) highlight & take notes
- use settings to change their checkout period or access accessibility features like Dyslexic font and contrast
