The District 161 Summer Academy program is a great opportunity to extend learning and have fun! We are excited to provide summer learning experiences for pre-K-7th-grade students.
All summer programs are at Parker Junior High School Monday - Thursday from 8:30 -11:30 a.m. There are no classes on Fridays.
Registration and Fees
Enrollment
Students who are District 161 residents and who have completed grades kindergarten through 7th grade may attend Summer Academy.
Children do not need to attend District 161 schools to register, but all children who are enrolled must be residents. Students not currently attending Flossmoor School District 161 will be required to present a current physical with up-to-date immunizations and proof of residency at the time of registration. SD 161 Summer Academy Programs
Summer Lift Program
The Summer Lift Program will focus on reading or math for students in kindergarten-7th grade who need additional instruction in the grade level completed during the 2022-23 school year. The instruction will help students improve their academic skills with targeted lessons. Students may be mandated to attend the Summer Lift program based on their grades and/or attendance.
The Summer Lift Program is for current K-7th grade students.
Summer Excel Program
The Summer Excel Program is for current K-7th grade students.
Code Champs Program
Financial Literacy
The Responsible Money Program is for current 5th-7th grade students.
AVID Summer Intensive
The AVID Program is for current 5th-grade students by invitation only.
KinderPrep
KinderPrep is a research-based program created by the University of Chicago. The program focuses on both academic and social skills. The program will be at Parker Junior High School, and the hours align with the Summer Academy hours. Parents must complete kindergarten registration for the Fall 2023-2024 school year to receive the registration form for KinderPrep. Emergency
If your child has a serious health condition or will need emergency medication during summer academy please contact the nurse at summer academy.
If your child is not currently enrolled in a D161 school, you will need to present a current school physical with up-to-date immunization records prior to the first day of Summer Academy.
