COVID-19 Safety Protocols for 2021-2022 (as of 8/13/2021)
Royal ISD is excited to welcome students back for the 2021-2022 school year. All staff and students will return to campuses for in-person learning and activities. The safety, security, and well-being of all students, staff and visitors are top priorities for RISD.
Click here to view the entire Back-to-School Plan for 2021-2022.
Royal ISD will continue to monitor COVID-19 data in our area as well as local, state, and national guidelines, and will communicate any changes as necessary.
RISD School Board Calls Bond Election
The Royal ISD school board voted to call a $99,500,000 bond election to be held on November 2, 2021. The action to call the bond was a result of the Royal Community Advisory Committee reaching a unanimous decision to recommend the bond package that includes the following projects:
- New PK-5 Elementary (Location TBD based on growth)
- New Junior High (existing junior high to be re-purposed)
- Renovations: Early Childhood Center, Existing Elementary, STEM Center, and Transportation
The additional facilities and improvements would accommodate the growing student population of Royal ISD.
Royal ISD Superintendent Rick Kershner stated, “We are excited about the opportunity to work with our community to update our current student learning facilities and build new ones to embrace the growth underway in Royal ISD. In doing so, we can provide every Falcon student with the best possible environment for their success.”
Election Day is set for Tuesday, November 2, and early voting runs from Monday, October 18 through Friday, October, 29.
Watch the Royal ISD website and social media for additional news and information.
Please join us at 7PM on Saturday, August 21, 2021 for a 21 Gun Raffle @ Repka's (8481 Buller Road, Brookshire, TX 77423) benefiting the Royal FFA/Royal ISD CTE students.

Capturing Kids' Hearts Workshops
The teams from every Royal campus spent two days learning about the Capturing Kids' Hearts (CKY) approach, a set of culture-shifting, sustainable processes that can be used in classrooms, during staff meetings, in athletic programs, in cafeterias, on school buses, and in homes.
Royal ISD is very excited to add CKH to its toolkit and to apply this approach across the district in the 2021-2022 school year and beyond! Thank you to ECHS seniors Alexis Ibarra and Samantha Lopez for capturing photos of each event.

Scam of the Week: Multi-layered Microsoft Scam
In a recent phishing scam, bad guys combined some of their favorite tricks to create an extra special phishing email. This phishing scam uses a number of different tactics to fool you and your email filters.
The phishing email is designed to look like a real Microsoft OneDrive notification, complete with official logos and icons. If you check the sender’s address, you’ll see an email address that closely resembles a real Microsoft domain. The body of the email references your actual Microsoft username and directs you to click on a button to open a shared Microsoft Excel file.
To bypass your email filters, the scammers don't use a direct link to their malicious webpage. Instead, the email includes a link from a trusted website called AppSpot, which is a cloud computing platform from Google. If you click on the “Open” button in the email, the AppSpot website immediately redirects you to a compromised Microsoft SharePoint page. On this page, you will be asked to provide your Microsoft credentials to access the supposedly shared file. Any information typed on this page will be delivered directly to the bad guys.
Remember the following tips to stay safe:
- Never click on a link or download an attachment from an email that you were not expecting.
- If you receive an unexpected email from someone who you think you know—stay cautious. Contact the person by phone or on a messaging app to confirm that they actually sent the email.
- This type of attack isn’t exclusive to Microsoft products or Microsoft users. The technique could easily be used on a number of other programs. Always think before you click.
