A Note from Mrs. Pitts
Dear RES Family,
The ongoing situation in Maine has, and will continue, to evoke many emotions. Below are resources that might be helpful as you talk to your child about what they may be seeing and/or hearing in the media. The bottom line: it is okay to talk to your child about this, acknowledge their feelings, remind them that they are safe and loved and to find a path forward to cope together as a family.
In the meantime, you have great resources here at RES in the teachers, principal, school counselor, school nurse and office staff, so feel free to reach out to them, as we are always here for you.

Talking to Children About Violence
Take care, and please reach out if you have any questions.
Have an amazing weekend!
Michelle Pitts, RES Principal

Environmental Club
Do you love our environment? Do you want to help others learn how to decrease their carbon footprint? Do you want to work with others who have similar passions? Join Ms. Murphy in the RES Environmental Club if you want to be a part of making a difference. We will be doing everything “green” and working in the outdoor classroom; exploring, building, and creating. We will help to plan the 2024 Earth Day Celebration Assembly. Let’s have some fun and help our Earth at the same time!
We will meet 2 Mondays most months (see dates below) from 2:50 - 3:50 pm. Students should bring a snack and water, and be prepared with boots and outdoor gear (appropriate for the weather). Pick up will be at the Leaping Lizards side of the school at 3:50 pm with ASE.
Students from grades 2-4 are invited to join on a first come first served basis. (12 total) Get those permission forms in! Parents of participants will be notified via email.
Please fill in the attached parent permission form if your child is interested and return to your child’s homeroom teacher bas soon as possible. It is ok if your child can't make the first one!

Costumes: Students may wear costumes, but weapons (even toys) are not allowed. Gruesome costumes depicting blood are also not allowed.
I want to thank those who attended the room parent training last week! We have had so much more party communication and we want to THANK the room parents for their support. Here is the presentation from the training in case you missed it.

Here are just a couple of QUICK and important messages:

2 The presentation lists food restrictions for whole grade levels so please note,
3. ALL food must be approved by Lori Flint at least one week prior to an event through email (lflint@sau50.org).

RES Drama Sponsorships Opportunity
In order to continue offering plays in our schools we must raise funds to support the many expenses involved.
One of the biggest ways we do this is to sell Sponsor Ads in our Playbill/Program, seen by hundreds throughout the run of the show.
- Each year we reach out to our community offering an opportunity to support the program in this way.
- Many size options are available.
- Since we are a school-sponsored event, all donations are tax deductible (please consult your tax advisor for more information).

Lunch with Students
We do allow one family member at a time to have lunch with their child(ren) but this is very optional and we don't want families to feel pressured to attend.
- Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend with the date/time (starting October 1). It is important to anticipate who will be in the building. We love these opportunities for students and their family members but we will always put safety first.
- We do have a focus during this time...eating for energy and brain power!
- Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria.
- Lunch times are:
Kindergarten-11:45-12:10
First Grade-12:15-12:40
Second Grade-12:15-12:40
Third Grade- 11:15-11:40
Fourth Grade-11:15-11:40
