CELEBRATIONS!
Great things are happening at WCS!
Next week the Wildcat Express will be starting back up again. This school mail delivery system allows students to write letters to friends in other classes and staff throughout the building. Letters are delivered each Tuesday afternoon. It's a fun way to stay in touch with friends and favorite teachers, and practice handwriting!
WCS FAMILY MOVIE NIGHT
MHS COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY
This Friday we were treated to a visit from some Morse High School freshman who came to volunteer during the MHS community service day. Students helped in classrooms, cleaned up the playground and field, and helped to deliver paper throughout the building. We were happy to see so many familiar faces, and are grateful for their happy attitudes while getting things done!
FIRE DRILL
WCS SPIRIT WEEK
MHS COMMUNITY SERVICE DAY
This Friday, we were treated to a visit from some former Wildcats during Morse High School's freshman community service day. The freshman spent the morning working with younger students in classrooms, and cleaning up the playground. We are so thankful for the time and effort that they shared with us, and for the chance to see their wonderful faces!! What a terrific way to end the week!
FIRE PREVENTION WEEK
Fire Prevention Week is observed each year during the week of October 9th in commemoration of the Great Chicago Fire, which began on October 8, 1871, and caused devastating damage. This horrific conflagration killed more than 250 people, left 100,000 homeless, destroyed more than 17,400 structures, and burned more than 2,000 acres of land. (NFPA.org)
This Friday, the Woolwich Fire Department came to school speak with our Pre-K through Grade 2 students about fire prevention. Students were able to tour a fire truck and see the firefighters in their full gear. Kids often think of a smiling face when they picture a firefighter, so it's especially important for people to know that in a true emergency, firefighters will most likely be in their full gear, including a face mask with ventilator. We hope that this introduction will provide some fire safety information and put little ones at ease if they ever need to be rescued in an emergency.
