Each month, the Battle Lake School celebrates staff and students that exhibit characteristics of the "Battler Proud" way. Students and staff have the opportunity to nominate anybody within the school they feel exhibit these characteristics.

Rhiana from The Apple Tree Dental Clinic in Hawley, MN, recently visited with Pre-K 4's (Mrs. Damrau) and K - 5. She educated the Battle Lake students on the importance of dental hygiene. At the end of her individual presentation to those classes, each student received a dental kit! Take a look at some of the classrooms engaged in the presentation!

The 2022 State MSHSL AAA winner is Isaac Scherfenberg from Battle Lake!

Every year the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) chooses a boy and a girl recipient from both single A and double AA schools to win this prestigious title and scholarship. This year the boy’s winner was Isaac Scherfenberg from Region 6A.

The 32 finalists were invited to a ceremony on March 26, 2022, in Minneapolis. Isaac was recognized in the televised halftime ceremony during the state boy’s basketball championship. This award is given to students who are successful in Academics, Arts and Athletics.

During high school Isaac has been involved in Cross Country, Basketball, Track, Speech, Choir, Band, Musicals, One-Act Play, Mock Trial, BPA, FFA, Minnesota Honor Society, and Knowledge Bowl, while maintaining good grades in an academically rigorous schedule. Congratulations to Isaac for this exceptional accomplishment!

The Battle Lake Knowledge Bowl team advanced to the State Tournament that was held in Brainerd at Cragun’s Resort April 7-8. Knowledge Bowl is a competition in which teams of four students are asked scholastic-based questions. The teams can beep in at any time, and they have 12 seconds to discuss the answer. Members of the state tournament team: Isaac Scherfenberg, Blake Alonzo, August Wicklund, and Morgan Malone. These students used their quick thinking and collaboration skills to advance out of the regional competition.

Battle Lake Speech received 3rd Place in Subsections! Eleven team members went on to compete at Sections Saturday, April 9, in Perham.
