Drop off/Pick up - Carpool Lane Reminders (Safety for All)
- parents should remain in their car during drop off and pick up times (you may not park here)
- students should exit from the car on the sidewalk side
- when driving west on Greenfield please do not turn on Woodbine, make a left on Forest and then on Berkshire-obey all parking signs
- obey crossing guards and hand signals
- Pedestrians may not cross Berkshire at Woodbine; please use the crosswalks on Kenilworth
- Cars should never double park and let the children out of the vehicles
- Please know the above policies will be enforced by the Oak Park Police.
Technology/Supervision
Technology has greatly enhanced what we can do today in the classroom and in the world. It is very important, though, that we all practice good supervision as our students use the tools. Our 3rd - 5th graders (who receive district iPads) are bringing their devices home or will be shortly. Please see any communication from their teachers in regards to supervision tips and what you can expect to see them doing at home. These iPads should be only used for educational purposes. Together we can help our students learn in ways not possible before and yet also keep them safe. At school, students will not be allowed to use them during indoor recess to reinforce they are not for play.
Attendance/Being on Time Matters
Next week I will be sharing our full School Improvement Plan with you all. One of our goals is reducing tardiness. Students should line up with their class outside at the first bell that rings at 7:57 a.m. Being on time sets students up for success and helps them feel comfortable beginning the day with their class.
