The BIS Bulletin

Students at Blair Oaks Intermediate are jumping at the chance to fight heart disease and stroke, our nation's No.1 killer for men and women. From February 24th - March 24th students are participating in Kids Heart Challenge during PE class to raise money for the American Heart Association.

Student's have the opportunity to help The American Heart Association by finding sponsors who are willing to make a donation to support the battle against heart disease. Please have your child print an online donation report and place it in the provided donation envelope to be returned to school by Friday, March 24th. Just follow these three quick steps:

• Download the Kids Heart Challenge app or visit heart.org/KHC to register.
• Help your student choose a daily health challenge: MOVE MORE or BE KIND.
• Set a fundraising goal with your student and send emails to invite friends and family to support it.

Next week is Read Across America Week and we at BIS want to celebrate by creating additional opportunities for our students to spend time getting wrapped up in great stories. It is our hope that all our students develop a life-long love of reading! We will have different days where students can bring in an item to make reading a little extra fun next week! Additionally, students can log minutes spent reading at home for a chance to win a grade level reward! Information and reading tickets are being sent home today with students!

*Please note that summer school will INCLUDE Fridays this year.

Grades K-8

• Session 1: Wednesday, May 31- Monday, June 12 (including Fridays)
• Session 2: Tuesday, June 13- Friday, June 23 (including Fridays)

High School

• PE will be Monday, June 12- June 23.
• Driver's Education will NOT be offered this summer.

Enrollment forms will be sent mid-March. More information to come.

Get ready to go Under the Sea at this year's Little Ladies Dance, put on by Home and School. Ladies in grades Pre-K - 5th are invited to attend with a fatherly figure to dance the night away. There will be a DJ, photo area, with light snacks and refreshments served. Please let us know if you plan on attending by filling out the form below. Payments can be made in advance to the school office, or at the door. Any little ladies with little sisters at home are welcome to bring them along for the fun as well. There is no attire specification, feel free to be casual or get dressed up!

All lost and found items will be donated after next week. Please encourage students to look through the lost and found for any items that belong to them. Please click the button below for pictures of items (a few have been claimed since pictures were taken, but not many.)

SINGO - Anyone can attend!

Mark your calendars and join us for SINGO!! This event is a collaboration of our Choir Boosters and Band Boosters and is open to any Choir and Band students, as well as any friends or family who would like to support these programs.

Yard Signs

• The Blair Oaks Band Boosters are excited to offer these 24” x 18” full-color, double-sided “We Are Blair Oaks” yard signs with ground stakes for $25.
• The online sale runs until midnight on February 28, 2023. The yard signs will be available for pickup in the BHS Band Room on Tuesday, April 4, 2023 from 3pm-6pm.

Top Concerns:

• Students can share their exact location with others through the app and when their geo-location is enabled, they can easily connect with nearby strangers
• Since activity from GroupMe doesn’t show up on their parents’ phone bill (like text messages), students could use the app to hide their messaging activity
• GroupMe does not offer end-to-end data encryption, which means that anyone in the company can read the messages
