Happy MLK Day
Monday, Jan 15 is more than just a day off for students/staff. It's a day dedicated to honoring and reflecting on the legacy and accomplishments of Dr. King. We encourage you to spend quality time as a family discussing the various ways in which Dr. King made a significant impact on the world. Although many of the community events have been postponed or cancelled due to weather, families can still take the time to talk about leadership and ways to serve around our community.

Counselors' Corner: Setting & Achieving Goals
We all know that setting and achieving goals is a life skill necessary for success and happiness. But it’s one that even adults REALLY struggle with: Studies say that only about 8% of people achieve their New Year’s resolutions! How can we teach children to set realistic goals — and actually follow through?
Make it fun!
Research shows that children learn best when they’re playing and enjoying themselves at the same time. Fun experiences increase levels of endorphins, dopamine, and oxygen, all of which promote learning. Here are 7 fun goal-setting activities that can make the process more enjoyable and effective.

Mills Around the World Needs You!
February 3rd, 2024 from 1:00 - 4:00 -Mills Cafeteria- Free and open to all families!
Mills Around the World is a wonderful family event that spotlights the diversity that makes Mills great. But we can't do it without you! We need families to be ambassadors at the event.
Ambassadors host a table for their country of origin or a country they have traveled to extensively. You can partner with other families or do it alone. We would also like to invite interested parents and kids to perform on stage. Reimbursement for food/decor purchased is available, subject to a limit. Singing, dancing, group performances, instruments, skits, jigs, all welcome!
If you have any questions about being an Ambassador, please don't hesitate to reach out to Ruckmani Ramachandran at ruckmani@gmail.com, Heidi Connealy at hconnealy@gmail.com or Ms. Bethany Bond at bethany.kennedy@austinisd.org
