Principal's Message
Hello Families,
October is a busy month for our PTO and I wanted to take a moment to thank them for all they do! This month our PTO is sponsoring our Scholastic book fair, a Halloween Dance, and dinner during parent-teacher conferences for our staff. They continue to offer a monthly dinner night out that not only helps our PTO, but also supports local businesses. Thank you to the many volunteers who make those events happen for our school community! Also, don't forget to check out their website and like them on Facebook.
Report Card Information for Families
As fall parent/teacher conferences begin this month, we want families to be aware of our report card structure. Our elementary and intermediate schools issue semester report cards and this aligns our elementary and intermediate schools and Oconomowoc High School to the same grading periods.
Families can expect the following to occur:
Families will receive two report cards. Families will receive a student report card, posted to Skyward, on January 26, 2024, and June 7, 2024. Families of students with disabilities will receive IEP goal progress reports at this same time.
This reporting structure allows us to utilize other means of providing more timely, balanced feedback about your child’s academic progress, including:
Grade-level homeroom teachers will utilize fall conferences to touch base with families about their child’s academic progress in reading, writing, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Parents will also have access to MAP (Measure of Academic Progress) results in Skyward Family Access, which provide parents an understanding of their child’s reading and math progress versus national averages.
Throughout or at the end of a literacy or math unit, teachers will be sending home evidence of your child’s learning (when applicable).
Teachers will contact families in a timely manner if they notice a student struggling to meet grade-level benchmarks on a regular basis. Plans will be established to help support the child at school.
Teachers will continue to utilize classroom tools, such as Seesaw, Google Classroom, or Canvas to communicate timely information about academic progress
