Weekly Message from Mrs. Fish
Dear Flower Valley Community,
It was a week of celebration at Flower Valley! We celebrated our counselors all week for National School Counseling Week. Thank you for spreading your love and support of our counselors throughout the week. We also celebrated the 100th day of school this past Thursday. I had the opportunity to celebrate my first 100th day of school as an elementary principal. The kindergarteners invited me to jump 100 times, count to 100, make a colorful 100th day crown, and look at all of the fun 100 things they brought to school. It was a blast!
We were also thrilled to be able to share information about the Zones of Regulation during the PTA meeting. Ms. Cheeks, our social worker for our Social Emotional Special Education Services program, shared what the Zones of Regulation are, ways we are using them at Flower Valley, and ways they can be used at home. The information is below, and we included the slides from the presentation as well.
This upcoming week our Fireflies will be celebrating Valentine's Day with some good food and fun. Thank you to all of you who donated items to make this a special day.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!
With Firefly Pride!

Virtual Snow Days
Your child will need a device to use at home for this purpose. If your child does not have a device to use at home, please complete the information below to get a Chromebook for home use.
Important Message from MCPS about Requesting a Chromebook for Use during Inclement Weather
You are receiving this message because this year, your child’s school is using a classroom cart model for Chromebooks. This means students use an assigned Chromebook while in school, but do not bring their Chromebook home each night. As we move into the winter months and plan for potential emergency closures, your child will need access to a device at home to engage in homework, interactive resources and potential virtual instruction. If your child does not have access to a personal or home computer, a parent or guardian should complete a form to request an MCPS Chromebook. The device will be checked out to your student and will be kept at home for the school year. The device will need to be returned at the end of the school year or sooner if your student is leaving MCPS for any reason.
To request a MCPS Chromebook for home use, please complete this form: Chromebook Form to Distribute to Families
