July's High School Happenings

Dear Gananda families,

We hope this letter finds you well and enjoying the summer. We are honored to introduce ourselves as the new principal and assistant principal of Ruben A. Cirillo High School. We feel very fortunate to have this opportunity to work with the staff, in partnership with you, to help support your student’s development at this exciting stage of life.

Dr. Whipple began his career teaching social studies for 8 years before becoming an assistant principal at East Irondequoit CSD. While there, he served for 6 ½ years at Eastridge HS and for the last 1 ½ years he was at East Irondequoit MS. He is excited to bring his experiences and ideas to support an authentic and personalized educational experience for your student that will embrace their identity and prepare them to pursue their postsecondary goals.

Ms. Greibus joins Dr. Whipple as the new assistant principal. For the past 10 years she has served as a Spanish teacher at both the high school and middle school. During this time, she developed a strong rapport with students by providing a rigorous learning environment while being sensitive to their social emotional needs. Ms. Greibus has also served in various leadership roles within the district such as the Esports Coach, Advisor to SOMHA (Student Organization for Mental Health Awareness) and as the 9th Grade Team Leader.

To help us get started on this new journey, we are inviting each grade level to join us for a BBQ lunch at the HS on the dates and times listed below. We would love to see your student come, meet us, have fun, and enjoy a hot dog, burger or veggie burger. We will have prizes to raffle off! We also value your input and feedback. Please feel free to reach out this summer at the contact information listed below. We believe the partnership between school and families is vital to student success. Summer BBQ Student Meet & Greet - RSVP by July 19th - click on the link for your grade level below:

All athletes are required to register to participate in a fall sport, and registration begins July 21st. To register, go to Gananda.org/Departments/Athletics/Athletic Registration. An updated current physical must be on file or uploaded to the system as well. Please note: Physicals are only good for a 12-month period.

New York State Work Permit Requests:

To request a work permit, please download and fill out Part I of this form. Electronic signatures are currently being accepted, or you can print the form to fill it out, then scan it or take a picture of it. Return the form via email to lhall@gananda.org. We will need a physical on file that is less than 12 months old, which you can email or fax to 315-986-1761. Once we have the permit request form and the physical, we will be able to provide you with a work permit. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Hall.
