We hope you are enjoying the refreshing fall weather! October continues to be a busy month at Fox Lane. Our students, faculty, and staff have started the school year strong and look forward to great things to come. With the Club Fair, Fox Night and Homecoming behind us, we eagerly look forward to the school year ahead.
Over the the course of the next month, key events will be happening at FLHS:
- October 19 (SENIORS): Parent College and Coffee, 8AM (Optional)
- October 23: FLHSA, Mount Kisco Partners in Prevention and the Student Assistance Corporation present Hidden in Plain Sight at 6:30PM in the FLHS Large Cafeteria. The interactive presentation will address how to identify potential drug and alcohol usage by teenagers in the home
- October 25 and 26: Parent Conferences will take place on at FLHS. Specific information on the event is also provided below.
- October 27(SENIORS): ACT test date
- November 1 (SOPHOMORES): 10th Grade Parent Night, 7PM* (Encouraged)
- November 3 (SENIORS): SAT test date
- November 9 (SENIORS): Deadline to request transcripts and recommendations to Guidance for the December college applications

GOOD NEWS AT FOX LANE
FLHS Science Research Gain National and International Recognition
On October 11th, senior Science Research student, Diane Zhang was accepted to present her research via poster at the AMIA (American Medical Informatics Association) 2018 Annual Symposium in San Francisco, CA November 4-7, 2018. Diane’s work, Transcriptional Regulation in Atrial Versus Ventricular Cardiomyocytes was reviewed and selected based on the following criteria: importance to the field, scholarship, methodological contribution, and overall organization of the presentation. The AMIA 2018 High School Scholar Program (HSSP) provides opportunities for high school students to present their research through the funding of airfare, lodging, and meals for selected students. Congratulations, Diane!
Senior Science Research student, Madeleine Sleeman, will be traveling to Daejeon, South Korea October 17-23, 2018 to present her research entitled The Role of Src Homology Phosphatase 2 (SHP-2) in T Cell Activation and PD-1 Mediated Inhibition. At the GENIUS Olympiad held in June 2018 at SUNY Oswego, Madeleine won an all-expenses-paid trip to MILSET Expo-Sciences Asia 2018 as one of the top awards in the fair. We wish her the best and safe travels as she represents New York and the United States!
