National Merit Scholarship Corporation Announcements
2024 National Merit Scholarship Semifinalists Have Been Announced!
Officials of the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) announced the names of over 16,000 Semifinalists in the 69th annual National Merit Scholarship Program.
These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,140 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $28 million that will be offered next spring.
To be considered for a Merit Scholarship award, Semifinalists must fulfill several requirements to advance to the Finalist level of the competition. About 95 percent of the Semifinalists are expected to attain Finalist standing, and approximately half of the Finalists will win a National Merit Scholarship, earning the Merit Scholar title.
We are proud to recognize the following Coronado students
as 2024 Semifinalists in the National Merit Scholarship Program:

The Application for the Seal of Biliteracy is Open!
A letter to our Seniors from Assistant Principal Melissa Robertson
Hello Seniors!
The application for the Seal of Biliteracy is open! The Seal of Biliteracy is an award for students who are proficient in two or more languages. Here are the requirements to earn the Seal:
-Must be a senior or a junior who is graduating early
-Must have a 2.0 average or higher in all English coursework
-Demonstrate proficiency in one or more languages other than English by completing one of the following options:
-An Advanced Placement (AP) World Language Exam with a score of 3 or higher
-An International Baccalaureate (IB) World Language Exam with a score of 4 or higher
-A district-approved language exam with a passing score
I am hoping to schedule proficiency exams for sometime in March. Students who have already passed a World Language AP exam DO NOT need to apply for the Seal and will automatically receive it.
For those wanting to take a qualifying proficiency exam, here is the link to apply:
