MIDDLE SCHOOL DANCE SNACKS
The WCS Student Leadership Team is hosting a Middle School Dance on Friday, March 3rd (for WCS students only). In order to keep the price of snacks and pizza as low as possible, they are hoping to have as many snacks donated as possible.
If you would like to help out, please sign up for a donation HERE. You can drop off donations in the office before 3 pm on Friday, March 3rd.
Thank you for your help and for making the first Middle School Dance of 2023 a success!
WCS SPIRIT WEEK!
LINES FROM THE LIBRARY
We will be celebrating Read Across America the week we return from break. This year there will be theme days, morning trivia, a Masked Reader contest (thanks, PTA!) and so much reading! We hope that lots of Wildcats join in on the fun.
Here is what we have scheduled:
Wednesday, 3/1: “Reading Can Take You Anywhere” (Wear clothing with the name of a place: town, state, country)
Thursday, 3/2: “Drop Everything and Read” (throughout the day we will all stop and read, PreK-8)
Friday, 3/4: “Cozy up with a Good Read” (Flashlight reading for PreK-5; Coffee Shop reading 6-8)
7th GRADE FROG DISSECTION
The 7th grade life science classes are dissecting frogs as part of our study of body systems and organs. Students can dissect alone or with a partner, or serve on the tech team that documents the process in preparation for the explanatory slide show that comes next. Safety is key as we work with tools like scalpels, so gloves and goggles are everywhere. Caroline and Ella have newfound appreciation for frog legs, and Eli, Cane and Declan were so excited to find a brain that they went and got Mrs. Williams just to show her!
MARCH MENUS!
GATE
Ms. Hoskins' 6th grade writing class recently completed a two week mini unit on stop motion animation. Students each created a unique visual stop motion product with the use of IPEVO cameras, Cloud Stop Motion, and WeVideo. After designing a set, characters, and story line, students took nearly 200 pictures for their video. They then imported the product to WeVideo where they added background music and other features such as text, transitions, audio and visual effects. The unit ended with a private viewing of the short features with special guests from the office as well as a few specialists.
SOMETHING TO TALK ABOUT
- WCS Third-Grade students had their "15 minutes of fame" this week on Channel 8 WMTW's Weather at Your School! Meteorologist Ted McInerney came and spoke with students about weather phenomena and the science behind forecasting.
- Friday, March 3rd WCS is holding a Middle School Dance in the Cafeteria from 6-8pm. Students will be treated to the musical stylings of "DJ Deltoid" aka, Mr. Hutchings!
- On Thursday, our Kindergarten classes celebrated the 100th day of school by donating 100 pieces of non-perishable food to the WCS Backpack program. Students were so excited to give back to our community in such a meaningful way!
- 7th & 8th graders are invited to participate in Debate Club, starting after break. The club will meet one a week on Tuesdays from 3-4 in the Media Center, and will give students a chance to learn and practice Lincoln Douglas debate skills!
