Hugh Cole School Staff Update

Dear Families,

I'm delighted to have been appointed as the next Hugh Cole School Principal. I'm very excited to get started with such a dynamic admin team. I've heard from so many people that HCS is a warm learning community filled with dedicated faculty and staff that share a core belief in the potential of their students. I've had a chance to meet some of you already and it's clear this reputation is well earned and true.

As I enter my 32nd year in education, I hope to bring my varied experience to bear on the continued success of Hugh Cole. The short story includes starting as a High School Social Studies teacher, consulting with schools across the country as they implemented a whole school reform model, serving as principal in elementary schools- both urban and suburban, and most recently as the Assistant Principal and Director of Freshman Academy at Portsmouth High School.

I've been happily married for 29 years to Jani Benoit. We have a dog but no children. She is a professor of Chemistry at Wheaton College and the love of my life. We have lived in Providence for just over 20 years now. A native Rhode Islander, Jani grew up in Westerly. I come from Waterford, CT in the Southeast corner of the state.

I can't wait to get started and look forward to getting to know the HCS team.

I am honored to have been appointed Assistant Principal at Hugh Cole Elementary School. I grew up in Warren and attended Hugh Cole for 4th and 5th grade many years ago. I've been teaching in the district for 22 years, 11 as a 2nd grade teacher, one as a guidance counselor, and 10 as a special educator.

I live in Bristol with my husband Brian, who is a guidance counselor at Mt. Hope High School. We have two sones, Aidan (16) and Matthew (15) who attend MHHS.

I look forward to supporting and collaborating with teachers in my new role. I am beyond excited to join the Hugh Cole School community and work with you all!

Hi Team!

I am thankful and excited to have been appointed Assistant Principal at Hugh Cole. I feel as though I am returning home after a few years away. I began my career as an educator at Hugh Cole in 2014 and later, I transitioned to Colt Andrews. I have primarily taught grades three to five and I'm proud to be a part of our Hugh Cole team again!

I have a background in elementary education, special education, and administration. I live in Fall River and grew up in Tiverton. I have three pets that I've rescued since I purchased my home six years ago; two cats and one dog.

I am eager to be a part of such a great community and look forward to the year ahead!
