John Champe Knightly News
Edition 3, October 4 - 15, 2021
Welcome to October!
Admin Corner
Families, we need your help. Our Deputy has shared concerns regarding parking issues at Sacred Mountain and Goshen Road. As a reminder, county ordinances and state laws apply to these state highways; parking within 30 feet of any traffic control sign and within 20 feet of a corner are prohibited. Additionally, some people are using Sacred Mountain as a student drop off, which violates the Code of Virginia that prohibits improperly stopping on highways. Please observe the no-parking zones so we can keep emergency accesses open.
Students are still crossing Northstar at the Sacred Mountain intersection. As a reminder, there is no crosswalk at that intersection. Several students have been hit by vehicles while attempting to cross there. It is not safe to cross at the Sacred Mountain/Northstar intersection. Students and families are strongly encouraged to cross at the Conejo traffic signal. It is the only safe passage across Northstar.
Please remember that Mr. Tyson is out on paternity leave; please contact the appropriate administrator for your student's last name.
Ms. Melissa Sargeant, Interim Principal
Dr. Tara Woolever, Assistant Principal (A-Fa)
Mr. Solomon Wright, Assistant Principal (Fe-La)
Mr. David Scott, Interim Assistant Principal (Le-Ri)

ATTENTION ALL ATHLETES & PARENTS!
How do you get an Athletic Scholarship? What does it take to be a college athlete today? When does the recruiting process start? Do smaller colleges have money for athletes?

This FREE seminar is a MUST for ALL athletes and families in grades 7-12 who want to play sports in college.
School Counseling

A Tip to Handle Anxiety Positively
The 3-3-3 Rule is a proven strategy for reducing stress. First, look around and name three things you see. Second, name three sounds you hear. Third, move three parts of your body—your ankle, arm and fingers. Whenever your brain starts to race, this trick can help bring you back to the present moment.
MAGIC Maker
We would like to recognize Ms. Sam Girardi as a September MAGIC Maker. We apologize for omitting Ms. Girardi from the last newsletter but her work and contributions to JCHS are worthy of recognition every month! Thank you!
