Fun Before Break!
Diagnostic Results & Grade Cards
When we return back from out winter break, we will be sending home second quarter grade cards along with results from the mid-year diagnostic testing that students have been working on in reading and math. Our goal is to see growth since the beginning of the year and we are seeing so much already! We look forward to updating you on your students' progress now that we have hit the halfway mark of the school year.
Student Shout Out's
We want to recognize the wonderful things our students are doing outside of school in addition to their accomplishments at school. Whether it's playing in a soccer game or winning a karate tournament, we would love to showcase and celebrate our students! Please fill out the form below letting us know of anything special your student is doing outside of school (and include pictures if you can!) These will be featured on display screens throughout the school. We will continue to have this form available in future newsletters and on our school website so you can access it any time!
A Note from the Counselor - Ms. Katnik
For the month of December, the topic we focused on in Counseling was anxiety. Throughout this month, we focused on a few different things that have to do with this topic. We discussed the difference between feeling worried and feeling anxious. In talking about this, the students had the opportunity to practice identifying the difference between the two. They were specifically given different scenarios and were asked to share whether they thought the individuals in the scenarios were feeling worried or anxious. We also talked about how to cope with our anxiety. The students had the opportunity to identify a few coping strategies they feel would help them the most when they are experiencing anxiety and encouraged them to try to use these when they are feeling this way. Make sure to check back in about a month for another update on what we are doing in Counseling!
We're looking for teachers to join our BIS family!
Home & School
All parents (grades K-5) are welcome to join Home & School! This is our version of a PTA and provides an opportunity for parents to become involved with the school by taking leadership in planning yearly teacher appreciation incentives, extra-curricular events, and support for students and teachers. Meetings are held monthly and anyone can join at any time!
