Car Riders: Effective Tuesday February 21st, car rider dismissal will change from 2:10 PM to 2:15 PM.

Our literacy team is working on reorganizing our bookroom. If you’d be interested in assisting with going through books or cataloging them please let Ms. Haley know. She can be reached at mhaley@glnd.k12.va.us.

The Goochland County Public Schools Gifted Referral Window is now open until the end of February. If you are interested in learning more about our gifted program you can reach out to Mrs. Donovan, mdonovan@glnd.k12.va.us. If you would like to refer your child for gifted please fill out the gifted referral form and return it to your child's teacher. You can find the referral form HERE.

Do you qualify for TANF, SNAP, or SSI? Are you interested in enrolling your child in preschool? Our Headstart classroom is accepting applications for the 2023-2024 school year. Apply here.

Beginning on Monday, March 13th, families may start the online registration process for kindergarten. Completion of the registration process includes a mandatory in-person screening at your rising kindergartener's school on Thursday, April 13th, 9AM-7PM. For more information, click here.

We are looking forward to celebrating our readers during Read Across America Week next week, February 27 - March 3! We hope you will help support the fun by reminding students to dress up for reading spirit week, and by attending our Byrd Literacy Night on Thursday, March 2 from 5-7.

The Goochland High School Dance Company class will be hosting a Dance Camp for Grades 3-5 (ages 8-12) on Monday, March 20th from 9:30 am - 1:45 pm in the High School Auditorium.There is a limited number of spots so sign up quickly.

Hello Byrd families! We wrapped up another set of lessons over the past few weeks, with 2nd through 5th learning about positive self talk and strengthening their inner coach while Pre-K through 1st learned about safe bodies and personal space. 2nd through 5th discussed the difference between negative self-talk (inner critic) and positive self talk (inner coach). We practiced examples together of positive self talk and they were able to decorate their own self-talk posters! Pre-K through 1st heard the story ‘Harvey Learns to Keep a Safe Body’ and learned examples of a safe body such as listening, helping, sharing versus an unsafe body, such as throwing, kicking, or scribbling on someone’s work. Up next, we will take a look at conflict-resolution skills! - Mrs. Jackson
