Welcome Back to Watson Village

It's a pleasure and an honor to welcome everyone back to Wingate! My name is Bryan Young, your new Resident Director over Watson Village. You can look forward to all your newsletter from me each month with everything ranging from building announcements, updates from around campus, hall programs, and other opportunities. Please make sure to read each and every newsletter so you are always up to date with whats happening.

1. Respect the Home

• This is your HOME AWAY FROM HOME. Please treat our residence hall with respect. This means please clean up after yourselves and report any facility issues to your RA.You are responsible for the removal of your trash.
• You will be fined for improper disposal of your trash. Please dispose cardboard and bottles in the dumpsters located at Welborn, Holbert, or UPA.

2. Quiet Hours

• Sunday - Thursday 11:00PM - 9:00AM
  
• Friday-Saturday 2:00AM - 12:00PM
  
• Be a Good Neighbor, 24 Hour Courtesy!!!
  

3. Guest and Visitation

• Due to COVID-19, there is a ZERO guest policy. Absolutely no guests from off-campus are allowed on campus/in the residence halls/in your room. You may have ONE Wingate guest in your space with you (you should agree to this with your roommate). A Wingate guest is defined as another Wingate University student.
• There should be no more then 10 people in total inside the apartments

4. Health & Safety:

• No Candles
• Up to 50% of your walls may be covered with posters and decor. Please no inappropriate or offensive decorum.
• University furniture may not be removed from rooms or common spaces. You will be charged for missing furniture.

Locked out?

• If you are locked out of your room during the hours of 9:00am-5:00pm, you need to go to the Residence Life office in Alumni Hall.
• If you are locked out of your room at any other time, you need to call Campus Safety: 704-233-8999

Car on campus?

• If you ordered a parking pass it should be waiting for you at PawPrint to pick up. You'll just need your student ID to get it.
• If you live in JM Smith, you cannot park in the lot directly behind our building! You WILL get a ticket! Instead, you can park in any other lot that has an R parking sign.

• Ask your RA! That is what they are here for.
• RAs are on duty Sunday-Thursday from 8:00pm-11:30pm and Friday & Saturday nights from 8:00pm-2:00am!

Your safety is incredibly important to us, and we expect each Wingate resident to have the maturity to care for and look out for each other. This means that while we do our best to keep you safe, you should also be doing your best to follow the policies and guidelines created to keep you and your peers safe.

WEAR YOUR MASK:

These are mandatory in the residence halls and around campus. It might be challenging to fight the comfort of being at home, but please note that this is a shared home and we have to keep each other safe. If you do not have a mask or have lost your mask and need another, please communicate by going to the Health Center for more information on where to get a replacement.

PRACTICE SOCIAL DISTANCING:

The CDC recommends a minimum of 6ft to practice social distancing. In our community, that may look like moving to the other side of the hallway when someone passes, or waiting in your doorway if someone is passing by on the hall, or sitting with one empty desk between you and your friend in the study spaces. This also looks like using the specific distancing stickers in the POD. Do what you can when you can.

WASH YOUR HANDS:

Nothing works better than washing your hands with soap and warm water, so get in the habit of doing so before you leave your room and as soon as you get back. Avoid touching your face or unnecessary surfaces to stop the spread.

Hello everyone! Welcome to Wingate.

My name is Bryan Young and I will be your RD for the year! I graduated from Wingate University and am currently a grad student working on my Master of Business Administration.

I love working out, watching Netflix (Lucifer, Dexter, and The Seven Deadly Sins), and when I'm not to tired I love to play fetch with my dog Jax.
