PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
BA Families,
Pre-K and Kindergarten enrollment for 2024-2025 is open now!
We really need your help in knowing about all of our incoming pre-k and kindergarten students for the 2024-25 school year. This greatly impacts our staffing and class size when we have an adequate count of students. If you know of any child residing in our attendance area that will be five years old by August 31, 2024, please share their name with us and encourage them to enroll now by clicking here.
The district is also preparing for transfers for the upcoming 2024-25 school year. The transfer window for students who reside in the Shawnee Mission School District and the students of Shawnee Mission employees opens on February 1, 2024.
The transfer window is a period of time when a student can apply to transfer from their home school to a different school. Students in good standing who are currently approved for transfer to another school location DO NOT need to reapply. Click here for more information.

Inclement Weather Procedures 2023-24
As the winter months are upon us, it is especially important for our community members to be aware of inclement weather procedures and how to receive an alert if plans for building closures are announced.
Procedures
If conditions make it necessary for SMSD to close schools, the district will implement one of three plans: A, B, or C. Click here to view the plans.
Inclement Weather Announcements
If plan A, B, or C is announced, this information will be shared broadly. Staff and families can receive direct emails, texts, and voice messages. Families can sign up to receive alerts in the manner that works best for them. Click here for details on how to sign up for alerts.
