A Message from the Administrative Team
Greenwood Students and Families:
The end of the school year is just around the corner; as such, the administration will be reflecting on school progress and would like to get your input. Please go to: https://eprovesurveys.advanc-ed.org/surveys/#/action/218925/7222 The survey should take approximately 5 minutes to complete. We appreciate your feedback!
Attendance contracts for 2023-24 will be in the mail within the next 7-10 days. Once received, each family has 10 days to return the contract. Please be diligent in this process as we have many interested families wanting their child to attend Greenwood.
The Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grades are working hard on their upcoming musical Oceans of Fun. The performance will be presented on Wednesday, April 19 at 6:30.
Thank you to Abbi Rose, sports banquet committee leader, Natalie Clark, president, and the entire banquet committee (and Paula Daugherty for the beautiful table settings), for putting on a tremendous sports banquet. What a wonderful Greenwood tradition! We are proud of our co-curricular opportunities, our coaches, and athletes. The value of being involved is an extremely important part of education.
Tomorrow is Spring Holiday – there will be no classes on Friday, April 7. Enjoy!
GO Blue Jays!

Teacher/Coach Spotlight: Coach Joe Black By Nick Burri
The students who walk the halls of Greenwood Laboratory School will tell you there is no friendlier or funnier person in the school than Mr. Joe Black. Better known as Coach Black, the Strafford native received his undergraduate degree at Southwest Missouri State (Missouri State), and earned his master's at Drury.
Coach Black serves as the Assistant Boy's Varsity Coach and Head Junior Varsity Coach. Additionally, he teaches Middle School Math, Professional Math, and Geometry principles.
Fourteen years ago, Coach Black received a call from Mr. Steve Seal about the opportunity at Greenwood, and ever since, Coach Black has been teaching math in a way that is both challenging and enjoyable, keeping his students motivated and eager to learn. Coach Black enjoys teaching at Greenwood because it allows him to concentrate on teaching math instead of constantly focusing on classroom discipline. Furthermore, he acknowledges, “Greenwood is a fun place to teach, students are cooperative and put out an effort.” Said cooperativeness and effort carries over to the basketball court as well; Coach enjoys watching his students come together to become a team.
Alongside his friend Coach Darren Taylor, Coach Black creates a supportive and encouraging environment that helps inspire his players to strive for excellence on and off the court. If you ever need a good laugh or help with an equation, stop by room 211 to meet Coach Joe Black.
