Students took their school portraits and received their school I.D. badge and lanyard on September 24th. Please click here for school picture online ordering information.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION: Please note that students will get in free to athletic events and other campus related activities if they present their ID badge. If students do not wish to carry their ID badge, to an event or school related activity, they may take a picture of their ID badge with their cell phone and present the picture to school staff. If students do not have their ID badge or a picture of their ID badge they may pay to enter the event or activity.
Canvas
Canvas is our new learning management system (LMS), and it is taking the place of Learning Hub, Google Classroom, and class websites. Canvas provides an online platform in which students can interact with course material and activities. As parents, you can be an observer in the Canvas courses that your students are enrolled in this year. An observer can see due dates, announcements, and other course content but cannot participate in the course. The instructions provided will help you get started by creating a Canvas account and pairing it with your students.
We hope that this new tool increases efficiency with you partnering with us in your child’s educational journey.
NJHS and Frisco Family Service Food Drive
Calling ALL Vikings! Starting September 30th to October 10th we are hosting a food drive. NJHS is coordinating this with Frisco Family Services. They are looking for condiments like ketchup, mustard, and other sauces and spices. NO canned items, please. There will be boxes in the cafeteria labeled with each grade level where students and teachers can drop off items for donation. Keep in mind that the grade level who donates the most items will receive a reward!
National Walk to School Day
We are inviting all Vandeventer students to participate in the National Walk to School Day on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. A little physical activity is a good way to start the school day. You can walk, bike or ride the bus to school. Walking, biking, or riding the bus will help reduce the traffic around the school and lower carbon emissions. Help us make a difference!
VMS Sixth Annual Career Day
Parents, Vandeventer Middle School’s Sixth Annual Career Day is right around the corner on Friday, November 22nd. We are looking for 50 to 60 speakers to share their chosen career field with our students.
This event is such a special day and the students look forward to it every year. If we are able to get 50 to 60 speakers, there will be 20 to 22 students in each of the 4 sessions that the speakers will be facilitating. After the 4 sessions, we will treat all of our speakers to lunch.
Please consider participating in this wonderful event and sharing your career with our students. Interested speakers may contact Dennis Thorpe at thorped@friscoisd.org for more details and/or to sign-up for our Sixth Annual Career Day.
