A Message From Heather Patterson, GRHS Principal
Happy Sunday GRHS Longhorns,
Friday marked the end of the second six weeks, that means we only have one more SHORT (5 week) 6 weeks to close out the first semester! Stay on top of your studies and assignments, remember that GOOD choices matter, don't be tardy to class, and no more than 3 absences for the semester...if you are wanting to take advantage of those exemptions during the last week before break!
I wanted to give a shoutout to our Volleyball Team and Football Team. Although neither of their seasons ended the way we wanted, we are so proud of the teamwork, perseverance, and the dedication that these athletes have given to our campus and programs, especially our Senior athletes. We can't wait so see many of you soar at the next level and in life in general! We are proud of you, so keep your head up!
OUR GR Band rocked their FINAL competition and after preliminaries, they were second in our division and 5th overall. They also received the best percussion award! Congrats GR Band, we are so proud of your dedication and hours and hours of practice and all the amazing band parents helping since the summertime...you make us SHINE!
WE NEED YOUR HELP! George Ranch High School Pickup and Drop Off
- Please do not STOP AND DROP OFF your student IN THE PARKING LOT in the mornings. You are blocking staff parking spots, which affects the amount of time they have to help your student in morning tutorials or be at their duty spot to ensure safety. You should be using the DRIVE WAY ONLY to drop off. There are 3 lanes, so plenty of room to drop off, keep the flow going, and get back out of the parking lot.
- AGAIN....There is NO PICKUP or DROP OFF on FM 762. All students must be picked up from the GRHS parking lot (where you are parked legally) or in front of the school. Students CANNOT keep walking across the parking lot and into oncoming traffic to be picked up on 762. This is a serious safety issue that must be corrected immediately. Please see traffic flow map picture below. Thanks for helping us keep our Longhorns safe even outside the building.
THREE amazing GRHS Ladies represented GRHS at the 6A State Cross Country Meet AGAIN! They ran in Round Rock on November 6th. Of course we had to send them off in true GRHS style with a little parade and some confetti! Super proud of Haley H., Madison H., and Sophia N., and Coach A. Dutch...you are MAGIC!
ID's are mandatory! No more temporaries will be issued. If you need a NEW ID/Lanyard- you can purchase them for $5 in the library from 8:00-8:15 daily! Lanyards/ID's should be on the second you step through the doors each day. Please make sure you are following this rule as well as being in dress code and to ensure that you are not written up for non compliance. This will affect your exemptions.
The front office is open Monday- Friday 8:00-4:00pm to assist you. You can also directly email us or call 832-223-4200 during the same hours. We are happy to help!

XC at STATE!
Congratulations to our Longhorn Band for their performance at the US Bands Marching Contest Saturday. The band traveled to Austin to compete in the US Bands Championship and compete against bands from all over the state. They first performed at 2:00 pm in the preliminary round where they had their best performance to date. At the end of the preliminary round the band won second place in their class, fifth place overall and best drumline. This earned them a 9:30 pm performance spot in the finals championship. The band brought the energy in the finals and gave the performance of the season. They had a deafening crowd cheer them on as they had an incredibly powerful end to their show. At the end of the night the band retained their 5th place finish in finals with a performance no one will soon forget. Your directors are incredibly proud of you!

GRHS Weekly News!
XC
Congrats Hailey, Madi, and Sophia on Making STATE History for GRHS!
Coach Dutch’s XC Longhorns were led by the freshman Sophia Nguyen who finished 27th (18:34.4) followed by Haley Harkrider (84th, 19:26.3) and Madison Haldman (100th, 19:39.3) in the 6A #UILState girls cross country championship AMAZING TALENT, KIDS, AND COACH!
The girls' Varsity cross country team made history this Saturday sending off 3 qualifiers to the State meet in Round Rock, Texas at d Settlers Park Saturday November 6, 2021. It was a beautiful day with the state's and nations best lined up for one last time of the season.
Freshman sensation Sophia Nguyen lead the Longhorns to a personal best of running a 5K in 18:34 putting her #2 on the all-time 5K list at George Ranch HS. Out of 149 athletes, Sophia placed 27th overall and set the tone running Longhorns. Sophia continued to make school history as she has been the only cross country athlete to qualify to the state meet as a freshman. Also, she made history as she now has the highest finish individually at the state meet in the girls' program. What a remarkable season as Sophia Nguyen has an incredibly bright future in the program.
Senior Haley 'Lexi' Harkrider completed her high school career as a 4-Time state Qualifier to the cross country state championships. The senior had an excellent start and finished strong running a season best of 19:26. Lexi placed 84th out of 149 athletes and dedicated being a strong leader in the race for our horns.
Junior Madison 'Maddie' Haldiman finished her season as a 2 time state Qualifier bettering her time from last year's state meet as well. Maddie ran a time of 19:39 to lead her to a finish of 100 out of 149 athletes. The 2021 20-6A district champ had a strong finish and made good strides passing competitors towards the end. The Longhorns were the only team at the state meet that had the most individual qualifiers. This completes the 2021 season as the Girls Varsity team set history winning their 11th consecutive district championship, placed 5th at the regional meet and qualified 3 athletes to the state meet for the first time in school history. Thank you to the that has supported our girls cross country program this season! We Are GR!

Message From Coach Cavallo
As the season came to an end Friday night a lot sooner than we had hoped I would like to take this time to thank the fans, parents, students and administration for all the support they have given to us this year. I would also like to thank the senior class of 2022 for their hard work, dedication, blood, sweat and tears for not only this season but the past four years to George Ranch Football team. The class of 2022 will always be a special one for me and I am so grateful and appreciative of all they have done for the program. I wish them the best of luck and want them to know that this is not an end but a beginning to the next chapter in their lives. Myself and the entire coaching staff will always be there for them as they will always be a part of the Longhorn FAMILY.
Coach Cavallo
GRHS vs Dulles
The GR Longhorn Freshmen finished their season with a nail-biter versus Galena Park. The Longhorns went up 7-0 and then GP stormed back to make it 7-12. But the Longhorn offense would not be denied and scored the go ahead touchdown. The defense then went to work and sealed the deal. These young men worked hard all season and have come a long way. We look forward to seeing what they bring to GRHS football over the next three years.
The Longhorns went on the road Thursday Night and defeated the Dulles Vikings 19-6. Kurveon McNeill Thad two touchdowns through the air, both to Keene Farrow, and Malachi Montgomery had the other score on the ground. Defensively the Horns only gave up a score when Dulles had great field position, otherwise the Longhorns shut down the Dulles Offense.
The Longhorns lost a tough one to the Dulles Vikings Thursday Night, 27-22. The Horns had their chances offensively and were able to move the ball. Javon Randle had a kickoff return for a touchdown that sparked the Longhorns on their comeback attempt. Defensively, the Horns put up good fight against the Vikings Option offense but in the end it was not enough.
The Varsity Longhorns took on the Dulles Vikings Friday Night in a losing effort. The Horns had difficulties on both sides of the ball, but were still always within striking distance. Dulles chewed up a lot of clock when their offense was on the field and the Longhorns struggled struggled in their limited opportunities to score. The loss brings the Horns record to 5-5 on the year. We are proud of these young men and their teamwork.
