Patriot Peek at the Week News

I encourage everyone to come out to watch a Patriot Volleyball or Scholastic Bowl match at Wolf Ridge. We post these events on our website, www.bhcusd.org. Click on the "schools" tab and "Wolf Ridge Elementary" to find out how you can support our students. We want all of our families, students, and community members to show their PATRIOT PRIDE.

Please remember that there will be an early dismissal at 12:30 on Wednesday, February 2nd. We will also take spring pictures for all students on Friday, February 4th. Picture forms will be sent home soon. Sports teams and clubs will also be getting pictures taken on this date. Athletes will need to remember to wear/bring their uniform to school for these pictures.

We are very excited to bring back our regular class parties organized by PFK (Parents for Kids). If you are interested in helping organize your child's class parties, please click on the link below and complete the information for PFK. Our students look forward to these class parties and enjoy celebrating with each other.

If your child attended the Cheerleading Clinic hosted by the BHHS Cheerleaders, they will have the opportunity to perform at the basketball game on Saturday, January 29th at 6:00 PM at BHHS. The participants will cheer during halftime of the JV game.

- Covid positive individuals only have to be excluded for 5 days instead of 10. Day 1 is the day AFTER positive test results or symptom start date.

- Close contacts from exposure AT SCHOOL have the option to test-to-stay (tested two times) still or be excluded for 5 days with Day 1 being the day after last contact.

- BOTH Covid positive individuals AND close contacts must remain fully masked on days 6-10 and social distance as much as possible.

- Close contacts from exposure AT SPORTS (or other extracurricular activities/performances) are NOT allowed the option to test-to-stay any longer. They must be excluded for 5 days. (Close contacts at school are allowed to test-to-stay as mentioned above.)

- Athletes are also NOT allowed to "compete" in games or performances during days 6-10. This includes both Covid positive athletes and any athletes considered to be a close contact either at school or during extracurricular activities. (The Macoupin County Health Department advised us of this change in guidance on 1/16/22. We will let you know ASAP if this changes.)

Unfortunately, this guidance is often revised or clarifications are made on an ongoing basis. I will try to keep you informed of these changes as I receive them.

Blessing in a Backpack is a charitable program created to provide food for students/families that may need it over the weekends and during school breaks. Each Friday, students that have signed up are sent home with food items for the weekend. These students are sent home with additional food items prior to extended breaks. Your donation of at least $1 or more will allow you to wear a hat on Fridays and will also help to raise funds for this amazing program.
