WOLVES WIN BATTLE FOR AZ AVE.
The Chandler Wolves defeated the Hamilton Huskies 49-7 Friday night to once again win the Battle for Arizona Ave as part of Rivalry Week. In addition, Jake De La Torre received the Rival’s Scholar Athlete Award, and DeCarlos Brooks was named the Great American Rivalry Series MVP. Congratulations, Wolves!
FOX 10 CAPTURES CHS SPIRIT
Fox 10’s Cory McCloskey was live from our courtyard last Friday to kick off the Battle for Arizona Ave football game against Hamilton. The pep rally included band and cheer performances, shout outs to athletes and performers competing at State, chants, a StuCo game, and awesome emceeing from CHS’s own Mr. Sasha Hunter. Blue Bell Creameries also announced free ice cream for all students and staff in honor of Ms. Amy Komitzky, AZ Top 10 Teacher of the Year. It’s great to be a Wolf!

MR. CHANDLER RECOGNIZED BY CUSD
Mr. JJ Chandler, CHS Assistant Principal, was honored by the CUSD Board for heroic efforts involving a student crisis situation off campus. He is pictured with Chandler Fire representatives Jessica Westmiller and Scott Jaeger.
BAND EXCELS AT ABODA FESTIVAL
The Chandler High Wolf Pack Marching Band took 3rd place out of 40 bands at the Northern Arizona University ABODA Festival. CHS took 2nd place out of all Arizona bands, including large bands. Currently, they are in the number one slot in AZ for the Arizona Band and Orchestra Director’s Association (ABODA) scores, and are second for AZMBA (Arizona Marching Band Association). Come out and support this hardworking, highly talented group as they enter state competition: ABODA State Prelims, Hamilton High School, November 3rd; AZMBA State Championships, Perry High School, November 10th; ABODA State Championships, or Finals, ASU Stadium, November 17th.

CHS CROSS COUNTRY
At Southern Cal, the boy’s team finished 10th. They barely missed the top ten at Titan finishing in 11th place. The boy’s came back strong with a 3rd place finish at the City Meet. Gabe Garcia was named to the CUSD All-City team.
The team competes at Sectionals, Cesar Chavez Park , Nov. 1st at 9:45 am and State, Cave Creek Golf Course, Nov. 10th at 8:00 am.

“SERVICE ABOVE SELF” SCHOLARSHIP

AVID PARENT NIGHT
AVID students hosted Parent Night last week and gave their families a taste of what the college prep program is all about through modeling college projects, tutorials, scholarship and FAFSA information, and more. In addition, colleges were in attendance to share info. If you’re a freshman interested in getting involved in AVID, please see Mrs. Templeton.

GRADUATION ORDERS AND PARENT INFO NIGHT
Graduation Orders - Parent Information Night – October 30, 2018 at 5-7pm
Jostens will be at Chandler High School on October 30th in the Cafeteria from 5 – 7pm to give parents/guardians of seniors and seniors ordering information for caps and gowns, announcements and other graduation memorabilia. They will be here to explain the ordering process and answer any questions you may have about Chandler High School’s graduation regalia.

Jostens will be at Chandler High School during A & B Lunches on October 30th and October 31st for seniors to place orders for their cap and gown, announcements and other graduation memorabilia.

STEP SCHOLAR PROGRAM
Sophomores: Have you been dreaming of going to ASU, U of A or NAU? Or maybe you could see yourself at Brown, Georgetown or the University of Chicago, but you don't think you would be able to afford the cost? On Thursday, October 26, we will have an informational meeting about the STEP Scholar Program. If you qualify and are accepted, the STEP Program will equip you with the knowledge, confidence and leadership skills to successfully help you transition to college and obtain a four year college degree- with financial help.
If you meet the following qualifications, do NOT miss this opportunity to get a college degree debt-free!
-Sophomore student
-Unweighted GPA of 3.6 or higher
-Taking multiple honors classes and on track to take AP/IB classes
-Low-income
-Neither parent has a 4 year college degree

AP students: Are you a student who is not on free/reduced lunch status and looking for financial assistance to help pay for your AP tests in May?
Remember to get a form from Mrs. Baumann in the counseling department. The deadline is November 16th.

Arizona law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per calendar year if filing status is Married, filing Joint Return; $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is Single or Head of Household; and, $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is Married filing separate return — for contributions that fund extracurricular activities in public schools. A tax credit is a full refund, not a deduction.
Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or the school district. To participate, follow the Tax Credit Donation link.

All college visits will take place in the CHS College & Career Center, unless otherwise specified. Students should sign up outside of the College & Career Center to attend a presentation. They will receive a pass in class on the day of the presentation.

THANKSGIVING FAMILY ASSISTANCE DAY
CHS is once again supporting the Chandler CARE Center in preparing for the annual Thanksgiving Family Assistance Day (Saturday, November 17) and needs your help to make it a success. Please bring your donations of the following items to the CHS front office by November 14th:
Whole, frozen turkeys
Canned fruits
2 pound bags of dry pinto beans
Cereal
Boxed stuffing
Desserts (boxed, dry such as pudding and Jell-O mixes, cake mix)
Canned vegetables and soup
2 pound bags of rice
Instant mashed potatoes
Side dishes (pasta, mac & cheese, casseroles, etc.)
Toiletries and hygiene Items (shampoo, conditioner, soap, deodorant, etc.)

Just a reminder when you shop Chandler Fashion Center and the Boulevard Shops, you can submit your receipts to make CHS money for our Positive Referral Program!
It’s easy! You can submit your receipts online 24/7 at the school cents website. If you do not need your receipts returned, you can drop them in the CHS collection box located on the Upper Level bridge near Barnes & Noble, or you can bring them to Mrs. Claudio in the front office.
