Hatherly Happenings

So often you hear the words, "Just kidding!" covering up an unkind joke. This week our story reminded the students of the impact that has on others.

Each morning we recite the promise that we all make as a Hatherly student.

Second graders got to know their map skills thanks to the giant National Geographic map of Africa on loan from Bridgewater State University. Second graders began the year learning how to read maps. As they begin a unit on world geography and its effects on people, they got firsthand experience navigating a map of the second biggest continent. Walking across Africa, they applied their knowledge of map symbols to locate deserts, oceans, and islands. Studying the map, they drew conclusions about what land features draw people to settle and build cities. These spectacular second graders are curious, engaged, and excited about geography!
