These are great figures - if you have an award that could be signed off in eDofE with just a simple request to an assessor, please do get it organised! Certificates and badges are in processing at the moment.
INVITATION - Expedition Information Evening Wed 7th Feb 2018 (4-6pm)
The format of the evening will be;
A presentation at 4.15-4.30 and a repeat of the same presentation at 5.30-5.45. Either side of those times we will operate a drop in session for questions about buying the right waterproofs, choosing a rucksack, borrowing kit etc. You may stay for as little or as long as you choose! We hope to see you there!

Please don't forget that for all activities other than the expedition it is up to the participant and parent/guardian to check Health & Safety guidelines and child protection policies at the organisation.

YEAR 10 - BRONZE AWARD NEWS AND DATES
Bronze section progress and expectations...
Here is a list of activities under each of the three sections - if you are unsure please email Mrs Lewis to ask what fits where!
All Bronzes are aiming to have TWO sections from the Physical, Volunteering and Skill signed off on eDofE by the end of March. This is because we are keen to take people on expeditions who are committed to completing their whole award and this will be a good indicator.
Bronze Expedition dates - PLEASE PUT THESE IN YOUR CALENDAR!
ALL EXPEDITION TRAINING/PRACTICE AND ASSESSED IS COMPULSORY IN ORDER TO COMPLETE THE EXPEDITION SECTION.
Expedition Training day at CFGS - Saturday 24th February 8.30am-4pm. Here is a link to the Bronze Expedition Training Syllabus, which we cover nearly all of on this day. Basic navigation skills are covered in the first few hours of the Practice Expedition, which is supervised with a leader teaching those practical skills.

Payment - the £60 payment towards Bronze expeditions will be requested before Easter, and can be paid in two instalments.
Consent and contact/medical details for expedition weekends will be gathered by a Google Form sent out about a month in advance. Please let the school office know if there are any changes to your contact details or the medical records that we hold in school.

Silver Expedition dates - PLEASE PUT THESE IN YOUR CALENDAR!
- Training/Planning for Practice Expeditions - Sat January 27th at CFGS 9am-5pm. Here is a link to the Silver Expedition Training Syllabus.
- Day walk - Navigation and Emergency Training - Sat March 10th, Dartmoor
- Practice Expedition Thur 19th April leave CFGS 4pm. Return Sat 21st April 6pm.
- Planning for Assessed Expedition - Wed 2nd May 3.40pm until complete
- Assessed Expeditions (post-exams) Mon 2nd July pre-check at CFGS at lunchtime
Depart 2pm to drive to Exmoor. Camp or bunkhouse for a basecamp night, depending on numbers. Tues 3rd-Thurs 5th July Assessed Expedition on Exmoor - camping both nights.
Return to CFGS Thursday early evening.
Payment - the £130 payment towards Silver expeditions can be paid in several instalments and is up on Parentpay currently - the initial deposit of £40 is due now please (by 30/11). Future instalment dates can be found on the top of the Parentpay details, or on the letter sent out at the time of enrolment. Link to letter here.

Here is a handy guide to choosing your residential - the requirements are very precise and you MUST check it out with Mrs Lewis before you book anything.
Golds in Y13 should be well on the way with their Physical, Volunteering and Skill. Y13 Golds should be aiming to have TWO sections from the Physical, Volunteering and Skill signed off on eDofE by around February/March - we are keen to take people on expeditions who are committed to completing their whole award and this will be a good indicator.

Gold Expedition Dates - PLEASE PUT THESE IN YOUR CALENDAR!
- Expedition Training Weekend Dartmoor - January 5-7th. Further details will go on an email to Gold parents/guardians week beginning December 4th. Here is a link to the Gold Expedition Training Syllabus.
- Practice Expedition Dartmoor - 4pm Tues 27th March - 5pm Fri 30th March (Reserve date of Thurs April 26th - Sun April 29th in case weather forces postponement in March)
- Assessed Expedition Southern Snowdonia, (Cadair Idris/Dolgellau area) Tuesday 17th July - Monday 23rd July
Payment - the £250 payment towards Gold expeditions can be paid in several instalments and is up on Parentpay currently - the next instalment (£100) to make the balance up to £150 is due by 31/1/18 please. Future instalment dates can be found on the top of the Parentpay details, or on the letter sent out at the time of enrolment. Link to letter here.
