The Mustang Minute

Today we were able to give out all the bus passes that we have received from the transportation office. Students must be registered for the bus every year. If your child did not receive please contact the transportation office at 781-440-5831 or 781-440-5832. If you have not registered your child for the bus you will need to go to 275 Prospect street to register. We will not begin checking for bus passes until October 10th.

There will be an informational meeting for students and parents on Tuesday, October 3rd at 6:30pm in the CMS library. It is not a required meeting but for those that would like more information on the upcoming trip. A representative form Hummingbird Travel will share details!

We are kicking off the year with a Norwood Spirit wear Sale! Click the link and check our the gear! A portion of the sales goes to the Coakley PTO!

This October, Coakley Middle School will again be selling t-shirts as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society. It is a great way to help students realize that even a small action can make a big difference. The proceeds earned from selling t-shirts will directly benefit breast cancer research and patient services provided by the American Cancer Society. Whether students buy a t-shirt or wear their own pink outfit on CMS Pink Day (FRIDAY, OCTOBER 27), they will learn they can advocate for the people they love.

If you have more than one student in your home, you can order multiple shirts using the form and get the whole family involved! This year, there is a choice of t-shirt colors (pink or gray) with the logo “Mustang Strong”. Forms are coming home next week.

Order forms must be returned to your student’s homeroom teacher by WEDNESDAY, 10/4.

We are looking for some new members for the Coakley School Council. The School council is a decision making body comprised of parents, teachers, students, and the principal. We review each year's budget, create a update the School Improvement Plan, and revise the student handbook. If you are interested, please email Dr. Fraczek at mfraczek@norwood.k12.ma.us!

PTO Board Openings

The Coakley PTO would like to welcome everyone back to school! The PTO is a parent/teacher organization that helps fund a variety of activities at CMS from assemblies, to field trips, to classroom projects and more. We would love for everyone to be a part of the PTO!

PTO meetings are held the fourth Tuesday of the month at 7:00pm both virtually and in person. The dates are listed below a link to the meeting online is sent out the day of the meeting.

The Coakley Middle School Open House will be on Wednesday, October 4th from 6:00-8:00PM

Parents will meet in the auditorium at 6:00pm for a brief introduction by Dr. Fraczek. From 6:15-8:00pm families will follow an "A" Day schedule to see their students teachers. there will be time at the end to visit B day teachers. Team teachers will be sending home a more detailed schedule with students.

Attention 7th Grade Parents:

Please see the attached letter about Massachusetts 7th grade physical and immunization requirements. If your student has had a physical since 9/1/2022, and you have not yet sent in a copy, please bring/send in a hard copy, email to jkozol@norwood.k12.ma.us, or have the doctor fax to 833-704-1903.

If your child still needs the physical and/or immunizations, please schedule an appointment as soon as possible so that the requirements will be met by the first day of school in September.
