Coppell ISD Child Nutrition is excited to celebrate National School Lunch Week (NSLW) next week, October 13-16! This year’s NSLW theme is “
Vote for a Winning School Lunch!” We will be highlighting all of the important aspects of a healthy school lunch and giving students the opportunity to “vote” for their favorite foods!
Each day will focus on a different food group. We will have two “candidates” from each food group. With student safety in mind, there will be no physical voting ballots—student “votes” will be counted based on which food item they pick up when they go through the lunch line. Whichever item is taken the most is the winner! For example, Tuesday will focus on Protein. The candidates are Scrambled Eggs and Chicken Sausage. If more students pick up sausage, sausage is the winner!
In order for students to make the most informed decision, there will be morning announcements that will help introduce each day’s candidates, while also teaching them the importance of eating healthy meals. We will also have signs in the cafeteria (also attached) where students can see “campaign slogans” for each candidate, and see the winners the following day. Virtual Learners are also invited to join in on the vote! While they may not be here to “vote” in person, we have created a form that they can visit to cast their own ballot online from home. https://go.coppellisd.com/FoodVote20
