Art Exhibition Award Winners
Five Shawnee High School Students were honored at the fifty-third annual Ohio Governor’s Youth Art Exhibition, including two Governor’s Awards of Excellence. The exhibition is open to Ohio’s 1,112 high schools, both public and private, charted by the State of Ohio Department of Education. The Exhibition consists of two rounds of judging. The first round selected the top 1,300 artworks from over 8,000 artworks entered throughout the state’s fifteen regions. The second round of judging selected the final 300 artworks to be included into the exhibition. The Governor’s Award of Excellence is given to the top 25 of the 300 artworks selected for the Exhibition. The artworks will be on display in the James A. Rhodes State Office Tower in Columbus from April 23rd through May 18th. A special awards ceremony will be held to honor the artists on April 23rd.

Career Fair Opportunities
Allen County OMJ Career Fair: A letter was sent home with 3rd quarter grades cards explaining that all seniors, other than those taking the AP English Language Exam that morning, will be attending the Ohio Means Jobs Career Fair on May 9 at the UNOH Event Center. Virtual Youth Career Fair: Shawnee has registered for a statewide virtual career fair that is open to all graduating seniors. During the whole month of May, seniors will have the opportunity to learn about career opportunities across Ohio. Whether seeking part time, full time, internship, apprenticeship, etc. this is a one stop shop. Shawnee staff will be working with seniors to register, and students will then have access to the virtual career fair from May 1-31, 8 am-11:30 pm each day. More information will come through English classes and Google Classroom.

Summer Employment & Educational Opportunities
Testing Dates - ACT & End of Course (EOC) Exams
April 13th: Biology, regular US Studies & Government EOC. Testing for all Regular and Advanced Biology students. Testing for all students in Government, regular U.S. Studies Course, and AP U.S. History. Students NOT testing are on a 3 Hour delay and should report at 10:35 am
April 20th: Algebra & Geometry EOC. Testing for all Geometry, Foundational Geometry, Advanced Geometry, Algebra 1 and Foundational Algebra 1 students. Students NOT testing are on a 3 Hour delay and should report at 10:35 am
Prom
Dance the night away with your friends at prom!
When: April 29th, 8:30pm-11:00pm
Where: Apollo Career Center
Important Details:
- Prom is open to Juniors and Seniors and their guests who are at least 11th grade standing or graduates under the age of 21
Non-Shawnee Dance Guest Registration forms are available in the East Office and must be completed and returned by Friday, April 14th. Guests must show a picture ID at the door to be admitted into the dance.
- $20 per person purchased from Student Government before and after school and during the lunch periods Tuesday, April 25 through Friday, 28, 2023, or at the door the night of the dance
- Light refreshments will be provided at the dance
- Formal dress is recommended
- Theme: Masquerade

National Honor Society Tutoring
NHS Tutoring is now also offered during the school day on Tuesdays and Thursdays! See your school counselor for more information.

Mrs. Keller, one of our high school math teachers, is offering tutoring to all students every Wednesday until 3pm in Room 210.

Visit Request Form
Students must take the following steps in order to make a college/career/military visitation on school days:
1. Arrange the visit with the college
2. Complete the Google form on the guidance website under Senior Important Information.
3. Wait for confirmation/approval from guidance (through school email).
4. Confer with each teacher prior to the visit in order to arrange for make up work.
5.Bring a paper or email confirmation of the visit from the college to school counselor.
