Most families don't have an occasion to visit the district office, so I wanted to share the photo below from Ms Reed. Some of our students' art has been hung there alongside others', and we are so proud of them! A huge thank you to Ms Reed for all she does to inspire and teach our students!

The First Annual Irvington Fun Run is next Thursday, October 12! Our goal is to have a 100% participation rate in the run - all students run, and fundraising is optional. The whole school will be working together to meet school-wide goals and earn school-wide prizes!

Funds raised during the Fun Run will be used for field trips for all students! If you’re fundraising, you have one more week to collect your pledges! Use the paper form sent home last week, or sign up online at https://pledgestar.com/irvington/.

Plan to come cheer on your student next Thursday! 2nd/3rd grades run from 12:45-1:15pm, K/1st grades run 1:30-2:00pm, and 4th/5th grades run 2:15-2:45pm. We still need a few more volunteers during the event; sign up to volunteer here. (You must be an approved PPS volunteer.)

3rd, 4th, and 5th grade families: Are you ready for this year’s Oregon Battle Of the Books (OBOB)!?! It is an exciting state-wide tournament that encourages students to read a range of genres and authors in the spirit of teamwork and camaraderie. 3rd–5th grade students form teams of 4-5 players responsible for reading a total of 16 pre-selected books (4+ per student). Irvington’s battles will be held in early February, with regional and state-wide battles to follow in late-February and March. If you would like to volunteer to help with team activities or help with the Irvington battles, or if you have any questions, feel free to contact parent volunteer, Kevin Gauthier, at OBOB@irvingtonschool.com.

Due to a death in the family, I will be traveling out of town and not at Irvington next week. A retired PPS administrator, Scott Choate, will be here in my place.
