Dear Parents and Staff:
As you may know, St. Francis Area Schools is going out for a referendum this November, asking district residents to consider an operating levy and capital projects levy to provide the funding we need to keep our schools strong and provide our students with a strong future.
If you didn’t know, St. Francis Area Schools receives $1,347 less funding per student than the state average, placing us lowest in the area. Unlike 70% of school districts in Minnesota, we do not have an operating levy. Over the last 10 years, we have made $11 million in cuts due to this lack of funding.
While we have taken significant steps to prioritize funding for the classroom, we have reached the point where new investments are needed to provide our students with the education they deserve, and that our families and communities expect.
If voters approve the proposed referendum, our district will use the funding to grow vocational and technical education; enhance science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) programs; retain and attract quality staff, and make needed investments in technology and classroom supplies and materials.
Our district is committed to providing information to residents to help them make an informed decision on or before Election Day on Tuesday, November 7.
To learn more about our district’s plans, the proposed referendum, the cost, tax impact and voting information, please visit our dedicated website: sfStrongFuture.org.

Students must only park in the west lot and display the current trimester's student parking permit.
Students parking without a student school-sanctioned permit or in an undesignated area may be directed to move their vehicle to the lower lot. The school may revoke parking permits and privileges from individuals who continue to violate the rules or whose driving habits present a threat to the safety of others.
