Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Year 9 University Trip:
Great day at Northampton University Careers Event for Year 9 with lots going on including a Medical Mavericks workshop and information on careers in automotive engineering.
Year 12 Engineering:

9BY have got on really well with annotating the poems they will use for their GCSE. Miss Duncan would like to say well done to Lucy, Gretil, Xavier, Nana, Greta, Keelie and Dominic for the beautiful presentation and great detail in the notes they made. Keep it up!
Year 8 Rounders:
Year 7 DT:
7TU have successfully completed their wooden racing car project. They raced their cars against each other to see which car would travel the furthest. Well done to Cameron D for winning the class competition. Pictured is Emilia, David, Jefe and Filip.
Year 7 Festo Trip:
15 Year 7 students visited Festo in Northampton this week to investigate how pneumatics work in industrial automation. They had a fantastic time building pneumatic circuits.
CTS Science Fair:
CTS had their first ever Science Fair at the end of last term. It was exciting to see the array of projects that were completed. We are so proud of the hard work. Winners were awarded in assembly this week. Congratulations to everyone!

Miss Patrick has made the following nominations this week:
Year 7:
This week Miss Patrick would like to celebrate 7TE and 7SW for their brilliant attitude to learning in music. Students have been adding the melody to ‘We Found Love’ by Rihanna to their own drumbeats and I have heard some fantastic versions! A special mention to Rylee and Macie in 7SW and Natan, Chantal and Carmen in 7TE who have demonstrated a consistently resilient approach all term – well done!
Year 8:
Year 8 have begun to add a melody to their electronic dance tracks. Miss Patrick has been really impressed with how students have utilised their listening skills to hear an error in their track, which they are then able to correct by editing their track. A special mention goes to Finley in 8TE this week for his extremely hard work all term – keep it up!
Year 9:
This week year 9 have started to compose a piece of program music to the story of a very famous cat! Students are using their knowledge of different timbres and scales to create their music and Miss Patrick has enjoyed listening to students gather their ideas and discuss them as part of an ensemble! A special mention to Maya and Bianca in 9TE who had a clear vision of how they wanted their groups piece to sound – excellent work!
Maths:
Miss Kaur has nominated 7C2 for excellent book presentation this week in particular Isabelle, Amber, Freya, Bronwyn and Ruby.
Mr Lee would like to nominate Kia (10TE) for scoring 100% in her recent ratio assessment.
Mr Horne has nominated Year 9 students Ava, Phoebe, Olivia and Rene who have made excellent progress in their study of dividing a quantity in a given ratio. Also nominated is Year 9 student Irena has worked well studying percentages
Art:
Mrs Bowman would like to day big well done to 7TE this week for their fantastic attitude to our lesson this week. Outstanding effort from each student who were drawing real apples from observation. Also nominated is Aliyah 8SI for producing fantastic work in Art and for being concise and accurate with her decisions towards her final piece.
Science:

Year 7 student McKenzie for excellent practical work.
Year 8 student Kristof for a great score on the end of year assessment.
Year 9 student Julia for great effort with the bonding topic.
Year 10 student Seth for great revision.
Sixth Form:
Mr Hallas would like to say a massive well done to Year 13. The dedication and commitment they have shown towards their summer exams has been a joy to see, especially as this was their first experience of full exam series. Well done and enjoy a well-deserved break 😊.
PE:
Miss Williams has nominated the Year 8 rounders team who attended their first tournament at Brooke Weston Academy on Tuesday. The girls played extremely well and won 2 out of their 3 games and showed great sportsmanship. Emily W was complimented by other teaching staff for her politeness when bowling, making sure the players were ready. Lottie also helped another team by answering their questions about why they would need to use a certain tactic.
Drama:
Mrs Hallybone has nominated 8CA who worked really hard on creating still-images inspired by The Tempest. They used proxemics to show the characters’ status, and then included thought-tracking to consider what they’d be thinking. Special mentions to Daniel and Nayon for showing the scene they then created to the rest of the class.
English:
Mrs Rice has nominated Year 8 students Georgia, Luba and Oliwia for excellent letter-writing this week.
Humanities:
Miss Buffini would like to say well done to 7TU for their inspiring assembly on Women in Engineering. Also nominated are Year 10 students for completing their History exam, Miss Buffini is very much looking forward to seeing how they all got on.
Mr Strumpher has nominated 7CO Geography for working so hard in the lessons and always asking questions and engaging in the learning. A special mention to Mugdi, Mirren, Naimah, Wiktoria and Harvey.
Mr Hallas would like nominate Ann Maria, Alexandra and Georgia in 8CU; along with Sidney, Gretil, Tahmid and Arina in 9TA for their brilliant performance in the last topic test. Lots of case study support and developed ideas on show – well done.
Mr Gealy has nominated 10B Geography for their hard work in the last couple of weeks, Mr Gealy is very pleased with their attitude towards their Year 10 geography mock.
