We are the MIDDLE
WMS Demons
From the Office of Mrs. Kennedy
The week of October 30, WMS will celebrate Red Ribbon Week. What is Red Ribbon Week?
"Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world. In response to the murder of DEA Agent Enrique Camarena, angered parents and youth in communities across the country began wearing Red Ribbons as a symbol of their commitment to raise awareness of the killing and destruction caused by drugs in America." -from redribbon.org
The mission is to keep kids drug-free. At WMS, we celebrate Red Ribbon Week with dress-up days, assembly, sharing of information, and so much more! It is a time to remind kids that being drug-free is the choice to make!
Thank you to Mrs. Nissley and our TIP (Teens in Partnership) Students for planning and taking leadership roles in being drug free!
In partnership,
Katy Kennedy

New Activities Procedure for Sports Teams
All 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade teams will practice together to begin the season.
Number of participants in each grade will be determined.
If there are not enough participants to fill an “A” and “B” team in the 8th grade, coaches will select players in the 7th grade based on skill level to participate on the 8th grade “A” team. No 7th-grade participants will compete on an 8th-grade “B” team. Once selected, parents will be notified. If a parent does not approve of having their child moved to the 8th-grade program, that the student-athlete will stay in the 7th-grade program, and the next appropriate player will be given the option to move to the 8th-grade team. This will be done until the 8th-grade program has enough participants to field both “A” and “B” teams.
Once the 8th-grade team has been filled, participant numbers will be evaluated for the 7th-grade teams, and the same process will be used to fill the 7th-grade program using 6th-grade participants. 6th-grade participants will be allowed to participate on the 7th-grade “B” team to ensure enough participants to fill a team.
Participants in the 6th-grade who have not been moved to the 7th-grade teams will continue with the current sixth-grade intramural program.
NOTE: Student-athletes will not be moved down a grade level. For example, an 8th-grade participant will not be moved to a 7th-grade team to participate.

Locks on Lockers are Important!
At WMS, we have asked all students to have a lock for their locker. We encourage students to have a combination lock of some type (no key locks) Locks were added to the school supply list this year. It is highly recommended as this is a place in the school students are able to store their things securely.
Also, we remind students to keep their combinations to themselves. Sometimes middle schoolers like to share their combinations with friends and let friends use their locker. We highly discourage this practice.
Every Thursday is WMS Spirt Day
